    Wow. Bought tears and memories of my own Father. Bartram is THE Charlton legend and makes you realise why we support this team. Also makes you realise that our history didn't start in May 1998. Happy birthday Sam. X

    I was too young too see him, but was brought up on tales of his exploits from my dad (if only I'd listened properly). Absolute legend.

    As for that book, I've got it as a part of a set of three produced years ago. Just seeing the cover there, is the first time I understood the double meaning in the title - doh!

    Great Charlton fans my grandparents.

    Nans hero was Sam (hard to imagine him as a heart throb in those old photos...). Grandad was always sightly jealous that Sam could make the old ladies knicker elastic quiver in anticipation.
