He was absolutely pathetically bad in his first season, it was embarrassing. He's still awful on crosses but his first mistake for a while. Looking forward to seeing it again!
It always amazes me just how much criticism keepers get. I'd lay you any odds that, because Sundarland won, John O'Shea's star gazing for the first United goal will be forgotten in a nano second.
Equally, four of the five United penalty takers missed and yet De Gea saved two spot kicks. At least four of the takers from the two sides couldn't even hit the target from 12 yards!
Keeper's mistakes are always magnified but, by the nature of the position, they will always happen.

De Gea's performance on Sunday was absolutely brilliant. The penalty save from a bloke who has never missed was one thing but the subsequent stops, culminating what I would describe as one of the greatest saves of all time, were in another dimension.
He had a dodgy start but I think people forget how young, especially in goalkeeping terms, he still is. He signed at 20 for United and is just 23 and that could mean he has another 15 years at the top.
That £18m price tag might look pretty good value in a few years time.

De Gea will probably now be a hero in the shoot out! Make me look a right plonker
