Based on since I've been going (Swindon League Cup, September 94).

Deano - couldn't kick but what a shot stopper.

L Young - Solly has more potential but Youngy was with us at his very best, England caps best.

Powell - no words really needed, the ultimate steady Eddie full back.

Rufus - the best centre half of his generation not to get an England cap in my opinion.

Rowett (sp?) - only played a few but looked different class.

Morts - my first favourite player. I used to think he could do anything.

Robbo - seemed to beat himself quite a lot but pure heart. How was he fit for the bench at Wembley?

Parker - still gutted he left, what might have been that season?

Shelvey - can still remember his first game and thinking wow. Again but for poor money management what might have been.

D Bent - had it all, pace, power and knew where the back of the net was.

Bartlett - never scored many but his link up play was brilliant, not sure I've seen a forward who beats centre halves in the air that much.

    Subs
Solly - come back in 2 years he'll start.
Brown - could put him on anywhere, won't let you down. (also my sub keeper)
Kins - led us like a trooper.
Mendonca - goals, goals and goals.
BWP - as with Clive but also for THAT goal.

Honourable mentions for Stuart, Holland, Carson, Wiggins and Youds

Please all. No Solly, Kermongant or Jackson. Let's keep it serious.

As this is favourite players and not necessarily the best then Yann is an absolutely serious choice.

Why? The thread title says favourite, not best.

With that in mind, these are the XI players I have enjoyed watching most in my lifetime...

GK: Kiely He was both the best and a personal favourite.

    LB: Powell -
    CB: Rufus
CB: El Karkouri - Not the best, not by a long shot. But there was something about the craziness of his game, his ridiculous free-kick attempts and celebrations that I loved to watch.
RB: Solly - Best RB in the league. Academy grad.

LM: Robinson - Loved his passion. Was pretty good too.
CM: Parker - With him in the side, you felt we were capable of beating anyone.
CM: Jensen - Oozed class. That goal at Highbury.
RM: Stuart - So underrated. Efficient and always reliable.

ST: Mendonca - Just a great goalscorer. Formative years of watching Charlton defined by him.
ST: Kermorgant - He can make an otherwise dull, drab day at The Valley worthwhile. Favourite player over the last five years.

Subs: Ilic, Semedo, Bent, Young, Thomas.

I picked the best team above, here are my favourites and the reasons.

GK Graham Tutt Although not the first Keeper I saw, I really liked him and was gutted when he was forced to retire.

RB Terry Naylor Met him at Primary School when he was at Spurs,he later whilst an Addick presented the prizes at my junior football team.
LB Chris Powell Love his passion for the Addicks
CB Richard Rufus Knew his uncle Trevor who used to be the manager at New Cross Bus Garage which added to my already keen interest in his career.
CB Peter Shirtliff For St Andrews

RM Colin Powell My original favourite player
CM Dick Tydeman The captain of the 80/81 team the first year my parents let me travel up north away
CM Johnnie Jackson Love the way he has captained us over the last three years
LM Andy Reid The celebration when we won at Selhurst wins him a place in this line up

ST Ronnie Moore Really nice guy and a real character
ST Mike Flanagan Another early hero

When I first saw this thread I thought it was the best 11 plus subs for the current season. Gutted that I can't put Church in but here goes.

    Kiely

    Humphrey, Rufus, Costa, Powell

    Jensen, Lee, Parker, Mortimer

    Mendonca, Kermorgant

    Subs

    Bolder
    Mills
    Robinson
    Kinsella
    Bent

My era has been from 88 to present.

I appreciate Costa was only here for a short period, but showed us what a top European player playing at an international level was all about.
