I would honestly love to know what you are smoking, and where it's available.colin1961 said:Everyone saying she lied ?
They said they will look at the best options which they clearly did for 2-3 days but come to the conclusion that GuyLuzon was the best for the post ...
To be honest given the list I saw he was the best !!!
Everyone likes Her at the club she works hard for the club she is at every game and she has the toughest job being the link between RD and the fans2 -

Peeters replaced by looson because the latter had longer contract in network and so bob cheaper to pay off.0

I'm sorry but it's clear they didn't go through the full and usual processes. Luzon was appointed less than 48 hours after Peeters was sacked and they expect us to believe that they properly considered up to 20 candidates?3

This is a direct quote from the press conference this afternoon. It was 2-3 hours rather than 2-3 days. You need to change your username Katrien, we know it's you.colin1961 said:Everyone saying she lied ?

Interviewer: Was Guy the only candidate considered for the job?
KM: "As soon as we went live with the sacking of Bob Peeters, within an hour I had 20 applications. So there were several candidates but by late evening it became clear that Guy was the favourite."3 -
ie after the phone call with Roland...9

This is the squad that held the last unbeaten record in the division this season. This is the squad that beat Derby County and Watford and at one time was up in the play off positions. The potential is clearly there and with the right leadership, management and tactics, plus motivation and morale, could actually punch well above its weight.
But at this time, I can only imagine that the morale of the players must be at rock bottom. They are probably as confused as we are and I am quite sure many of them will be looking at Guy Luzon coming in to take charge with trepidation.
This is a mess of one man's making.... Roland Duchatelet. He is the root cause of all the problems at this club. Katrien Meh is his trollop-in-tow and will do and say whatever he tells her to . She is a poodle of the most pusillanimous kind we should treat her every utterance with the contempt it deserves.
Duchatelet should go, and he should take his lap dog with him. Charlton Athletic will survive without them. We've been through worse than this and come back stronger.

So basically 20 people applied within an hour and Katrien, a lawyer from Belgium with little prior knowledge of English football, just knew by the end of the day that the bloke already of Roland's payroll was the only man for the job. I know people in these positions put spin on everything, they have to, but for Christ's sake at least try with the lying, we deserve that much.MrLargo said:

Now i'm firmly in the 'give Luzon a chance' camp but that statement is ridiculous.
Unless the candidates were Paulie, Nathan Prior, Iain Dowie, John Barnes, Floyd and Harvey, Les Reed, the Teletubbies, Tony adams and Ian Holloway, there is not a chance in hell that Luzon would be the favourite for our managers role.20 -

Seen someone on twitter trying to get people to protest by turning your back on the game in the 4th minute at Watford. Surely this would be more effective at home if it was to be done0

With the exception of Dowie and Holloway, I'd take any of them over Luzon.Chris_from_Sidcup said:KM: "As soon as we went live with the sacking of Bob Peeters, within an hour I had 20 applications. So there were several candidates but by late evening it became clear that Guy was the favourite."

I have some sympathy for Katrien as inherently everyone hates the Belgiuns and she has to try and appease us. Roland makes the decisions whilst she just tries to make the best of bad situations which is a difficult job.
I have a feeling that Luzon will be a total failure at Charlton but the blame for that would lie with Roland, not Katrien

As posted elsewhere
From Frank hill in the 1960’s to Eddie Firmani to Andy Nelson to (the much lauded on his arrival) Alan Pardew to Bob Peeters and all in between. I've seen many Charlton managers come and go and have learned not to get excited by any of their appointments.
Some posters shouting for the return of Curbs are probably the same supporters claiming he had taking us as far as he could and should go.
The same posters who chanted Chris Powell “didn't know what he was doing “when we lost to the Daggers and then knighted him S.C.P.when we won league one.
Those posters complaining about the current owners (who are not beyond criticism) but trying to bring success back to the Valley, should look at the photos of the Valley during the chronic under-investment of the Glickstein era or maybe reminded of the farcical Mark Hulyer stewardship of the club when players wages were dependent on a boat load of bananas or rubber reaching their destination.
So don’t get to excited chaps, we've seen it all before – managers come and go, owners come and go, but be careful what you wish for.

"The Belgiuns" was an interchangable name for anyone who is unpopular at the club.Bedsaddick said:

To be honest, I feel sorry for her. As Airman said, she is no more the Chief executive than I am Prime Minister and if she is being forced, in effect, to lie by RD then she ought to resign and get the fuck out of there because this has damaged her credibility beyond repair.
Even sadder is to see Murray wheeled out like an ageing favourite uncle being used, very unsuccessfully, to placate a pissed off fan base.
Lie upon lie upon lie. It's sickening.7 -

Bob himself has said he knew from the moment that Luzon left Standard that he would have to be careful. The moment he lost his job there was no doubt who it was going to.
Katrien is doing her job, she has to try and sell this. Just like she had to try and sell the appointment of Bob in the first place when she was desperate for Riga to be kept on.3 -

So
- the only other candidates considered were those who applied (recently at Bolton one of "those who applied " was a 9 year old boy)
- her published remarks on Monday were in fact a complete smokescreen. Not only does an Israeli website assert on Monday that Luzon is a done deal, but she has now confirmed herself that it was. ....

She could have looked at the moaning on here, delayed naming Luzon until Thursday or Friday, claimed she had interviewed 20 candidates - would that have placated the moaners?1

Feel for her, she is normally quite confident at press events but she looks very uneasy.1 -
For somebody who is so clever, she appears to have little common sense or business acumen.
I wonder what her negotiating skills are like when she is dealing with agents/players over new or renewal contracts. Rhetorical question as I think we all know the answer.0 -

I'd like to think most proper fans would still be in the bar at that point.

I wonder if potential applicants know they only had until the evening before we made a decision?
Why make your mind up so quickly Katrien? Especially after the club had issued a statement saying Matthew and Roberts would be in charge on Saturday?
Also, surely a bit more time would have given other potentially better qualified applicants time to smarten up their CV? As I'm sure the applications of the other 19 were studied in great detail before a decision was made. Although not in too much depth if there was still time to interview some of them in that short period of time. That must have been a seriously busy few hours for our esteemed CEO. Poor lass....2 -
Katrien Miere is in an impossible position and has been put in an impossible position by RD. If she says anything at all about the whole interview process farago which is even a tiny part critical of her boss, she is for the high road. Just like any of RDs employees. The writing was on the wall for Bob Peeters the moment he started making critical noises about the strength of the squad and need for a striker. Also about Tony Watt ' if he must come......'. Katrien Miere knows this.
It is clear that Katrien Miere is a bright and intelligent person. One day she will surely make an actual great Chief Executive. It will never happen at Charlton because Roland will never cede that level of control / level of autonomy.
Truth is the Chief Executive job title is overstated. That job role does not exist within the RD empire / business model. Really Katrien Miere is just a General Manager with no say about anything particularly important about the club. Roland is clearly the one in charge of proceedings. So much so that he forgets to pretend that Katrien is even remotely involved in major decisions. It appears that RD does not care about embarrassing his employees or consider that he may be undermining them in their role. RD either doesn't care as he is the owner or more likely, like many computer geeks is not very good with relating to people. Problem is that now her credibility as a Chief Executive is shot to pieces. Terrible handling from Roland.9
