Match Voucher/Stub 15???

In the grand scheme of things that we witnessed today, not that high, but still made my blood boil even before I got in the ground.

I'm one the efficient punters that has my voucher torn out and hands it to the turnstile operator along with my open ST book to keep things moving. So imagine how pissed off I was to have to stuff this detached stub somewhere (don't even know where it is tbh) and fumble through the other stubs with a queue building up behind me.

I think a (pretty lame) reason has been given before, but if this is REALLY necessary could we be warned as we queue up with some high tech device like a little number on a chalk board or something?

No idea why stubs 13 and 14 weren't used. I understand that Barnsley was called off (stub 13) but surely they just take the next stub in the book? Why was 14 not used though?

Was a weird decision which will only complicate things in future games

Oh yeah. Brain not working. I thought that we were meant to play Bournemouth next week but it was Leeds.

Still odd though. In the past they've just taken the next stub, even if a game has been moved.

East Stand turnstiles had '15' over each turnstile and a steward was walking round shouting out 'ticket stub 15 for today'.
  • That's interesting. I had 14 torn out of my book today. Reckon this is going to cause me a problem down the line....

That means you get to miss a game.....winner

Agree. I thought the reason the tickets are numbered and not named was for exactly this reason - you just present the next ticket in the book.

Fantastic..... Think a call to the Commercial Centre is in order on Monday.
Now does anyone know which game I'm entitled to miss if they tell me to go and do one?
  • I'm sure there is a logical reason for it but why don't season tickets just have vouchers with the opposition team name on?

Logic should dictate that you use the stubs in order - I have a partially torn stub 13, and as the Barnsley and Bournemouth games were postponed- surely yesterday's match became match 13!
  • I was told to use 14 aswell at north stand entrance.anyone else with same problem? Very confused.

North lower they were taking out number 14... Why wasn't this sorted out before the game so that everyone was on the same page?

It was 15 on the east stand gates. My guess is that people were admitted to some hospitality areas using voucher 13 for the Barnsley game so it would have also created confusion if that number had been used yesterday. Also people will have purchased upgrades against voucher 13 in their ST books.

I'm not sure how that affects Bournemouth and thus why it needs to remain match 14, unless tickets went on sale for the game? If they have really taken different vouchers on different entrances than they'll just have to accept different vouchers when the respective games are played or use voucher B, one of which I'm sure they will. But this will need to be confirmed.

I normally just rip out the corresponding voucher in the book to the one that's up on the board near the turnstiles. It seems to work pretty well.

Was a bit surprised to see 15 up there yesterday, but like a ninja I skilfully adapted to the situation and managed to quickly thumb through the book to voucher number 15 without even breaking my stride.

I could tell the bloke behind the turnstile was impressed with my mental dexterity as he said, "enjoy the game". "Chalk another one up to me, muthaf**ka" I replied.
  • There is a sign by North Upper turnstiles for the season ticket number. But it's always blank which is a pain in the arse.

Yep don't know why but its always blank making queues longer because nobody knows what number, just another Charlton cock-up.

They took voucher 15 off me so some appeared to know in lower North.

I think the first season in the Premier League (98/99) they did that then they replaced with the numbers...

They took stub 14 off me at East Stand turnstiles 41-49. It had 14 displayed on the gates themselves. Stub 13 is left for Barnsley 25th Feb.

It was 15 displayed when I went in.

The reason numbers are used rather than team names in the PL was to discourage people selling them on - a number of STs were bought by touts and agencies. That's also why the Ts and Cs say you need to be able to show the booklet. Not necessary in the FL, but still a weak security check against Millwall, Leeds, etc.

Thanks Airman Brown. Just attended the Commercial Centre and they gave me an extra number 14 stub. They confirmed that Barnsley is stub 13, Bournemouth is stub 14 and QPR will become stub 16. :-)

They took stub 15 from me in the East Stand. Going to be even more confusing if different stubs have been handed in.

Hi BigRedEvil. You'll have no problem, as they took the right stub 15 from you, but at the East Stand, when I went in at 1.30pm, it definately had 14 displayed. They must have realised later and started taking number 15.
