Survival or Winning FA Cup?

To be honest, both of the above seem to be unlikely at the moment.
However, obviously winning the FA Cup is much more far fetched.
Just to spark debate though:
Would you rather us stay up this season or win the cup?

Cup, once in a lifetime occurrence.

Would love to stay up but the cup remains special.
  • FA Cup for me... Greatest competition in the world...

We last won it in 1947 (few of us still around) yet since then we've changed Divisions many times... We're not one of England's elite so regardless of what happens this season we'll always yo-yo between the League's whereas how often have we had a chance to go to Wembley to see us lift a trophy

i would love to win the cup but could you imagine what would happen to us next season if we got relegated to league 1 and also had to play the extra European games?

Cup. Would be once in a lifetime and a piece of our history that will live forever. back to back promotion back to the premier league on the back of it.

No guarantee we'd go through (i.e. Millwall when they went out to Ferencvaros when they lost to Man Utd in the final) and the Qualifying Matches would just replace two Pre-Season Friendlies

Winning the FA cup. 100%. Would most likely get promoted after anyway.

    Cup.

Once in a lifetime achievement (and possibly a record for lowest placed winner) makes League One bearable.

I'd take relegation and being losing finalists any day.

Relegation and semi final losers, I'm 50/50 on
  • I was thinking this the other day...def cup win then 102 points in L1 the following season!

    CUP ALL DAY LONG
    Kind of used to relegation!
  • Cup. If the plan under RD is long term, we'll sort our league form out in the coming seasons. So don't mind sacrificing one league season for it. Worth it
  • I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves.

No offence, but anyone who chooses the humdrum workaday matter of league position over the honour and glory of winning the cup is in serious need of one of these:

It's a good excuse aswell to retaliate to rival fans.

We got relegated because we won the FA cup......

It's a tough one: 5 to 10 years trying to get out of League 1 versus a chance to see Charlton play in an FA Cup Final for the first and probably only time in my lifetime...

    I've tossed a coin: FA Cup! :-)

What are you all on??!! Staying up is the only thing that matters this season. With survival comes a major re-build in the summer and the chance to be challenging at the top end of the league for a change. Go down and we lose a couple of our best players, fail to attract higher quality and potentially get stuck in L1 for another 3 seasons or more.
