Outside the ground sunday, Police.

Just a little thing I thought you might like to know about South Yorks police, and that is that they go over the top quite a bit and must have thought we are playing Millwall (either that or they had prepared for a Steel City Derby)

image

These have been spotted in our car park today and they're segregation barriers which are normally used when there's a Sheffield derby. More than likely they'll be outside the ground before and after the game and it might make it quite frustrating to go anywhere after the match - it's especially annoying as it means home supporters can't get down bramall lane so have to walk all the way around the ground.

Stay safe on Sunday - Avoid south yorkshire police.

If we score and run on the pitch, they do nothing.

If you score and a fan even steps on the ground in front of your seats and gets within 8 foot of the pitch they'll be thrown out.
Fine for home fans and usually away fans but be careful if you score.

SYP will have to earn their money and this is a way to justify it.

I'm in the Lower Tier on Sunday. Does anyone know if you can meet mates who are in the Upper Tier on the concourse in the ground or does each tier use different entrances?

Strange picture - mainly due to the obvious sponsors there, one who sponsor the spanners and one who sponsor the nigels.

Looks like you're getting support from our South London neighbours.

Hmm. Interesting to know that S. Yorks police keep up their proud traditions. The cup-tie at Bramall Lane in1972 gave me an insight into their methods -- if you can call it method.

Best not to argue with them. Actually, as Blades 1889 suggests, avoid them altogether.

Must of heard that we are arriving tooled up. Please explain to them that for Charlton, tooled up means a thermos, blanket and train/bus timetable.

Anyone driving with a few people in anything larger than a Metro will be target - I get a feeling that SYP will be way over the top

Nope, different entrances as the upper is designed to be used for home supporters sometimes.

I think the thing is they cocked up against notts forest and things got a bit messy after the match even though there was a tonne of police so I think they're trying to prove they can still control for "big games" even though I don't see there being any trouble sunday.

    be careful if you score.

In that case, I expect the day to pass off without incident.

Planned for a Sheffield derby, Charlton beat Wednesday, police don't want to miss out on the overtime so go ahead with the original plan regardless.

Are those things in the picture the components of one of those temporary walls like they had at Palace last season?

Very extreme measures. If you treat everyone like hooligans then you'll get a fair few of the normally-sane who'll start playing up to it.

They've clearly heard about our reputation for putting in FOI requests...and are getting their retaliation in early.

  • Thanks for the input blades. People should take heed
  • Syp need to take a long hard look at themselves. Those cones and plastic tape couldn't segregate a load of schoolkids, let alone grown men...

The game will pass without incident and the SYP will be full of self praise stating that it was all worth it as everyone went home safe.
