a reported quote of neil warnock, sheff utd

in today's times...'having caught us up, i'm sure charlton will now be thinking they are favourites to stay up, but dont forget that leeds, watford and crystal palace were thinking the same way about catching us in the championship last season and that did not happen'...so thats us doomed then because charlton are really leeds, watford and crystal palace in disguise and this is the championship...

also liked the times bit repeating the bit that sheff utd will stay up because of their fans, regularly pulling in 32,000, blah, blah, blah...that'll be why they've won all 15 of their home games and scored an average of 3 a game then...oh, hang on, this cant be right, the table says they've only won 5 of their 15 home games and scored 18 goals in 15 games...still, they should win their last 4 home games against newcastle, west ham, watford and wigan...none of those teams want the points at the moment...

Well, in one of those Sheff Utd home games we were winning 1-0 with about 20 minutes left - and then we really cocked up.

If we'd got a result that day, we'd have 33 points and they'd have only 28.

If we'd hung on for a draw, we'd have 31 points and they'd have only 29.

    If.........

    That bloody Fulham match.......

Without Mr Poll's intervention, we'd have 32 points.

    And Fulham on 34 points.

    Neil Warlock is panicking.......

4 games ago, they were 11 points clear of us and the relegaton trapdoor.

We're breathing down your neck, Mr Warlock.

Exactly these things even themselves out.
If Diouf had put his penalty away at the valley.
If Man City's effort had hit the post and gone in at the valley.
If Bolton had taken one of their seemingly endless supply of chances at the reebok.
If Carson hadn't turned up at Pompey.
If we hadn't got a dubious penalty at home to Wigan.
Other teams have had bad luck as well. What about Wigan away at Arsenal

Not forgetting the fact that since their 1-0 win over the Arse that they've only won two out of 10 league games (home to Fulham and Spurs) and have lost their last SEVEN away games on the spin since they beat Wigan 1-0 away. Oh yes, they've also lost their top scorer Rob Hulse until next season, he has scored over a third of their goals this season.

No wonder Warnock is trying to play silly buggers.

If Lisbie had tucked that chance away at Watford

If the Watford player hadn't blazed over from 3 yards at the Valley

Meanwhile, I'm not sure ITV wanted to call him "Colin" in this headline...
