Thuram refuses to travel to Leeds
CHARLTON keeper Yohann Thuram-Ulien has refused to travel for tonight’s crunch Championship match at Leeds United.
The South London Press has been told that the 25-year-old - signed on loan from Standard Liege - is unhappy at his lack of first-team chances at the Addicks.
It means that Dillon Phillips is set to be on the bench in Yorkshire.
Charlton are understood to have looked at recalling Nick Pope from his loan at York City but are unable to do so because their problems are not due to an injury crisis.
Thuram-Ulien was one of the first signings made when Roland Duchatelet bought Charlton, arriving from the Belgian club that he also owns.
The Frenchman has played four matches for the Addicks but has not featured since the 1-0 win over QPR at the end of February.
Current number one Ben Hamer has been one of the most consistent performers in recent weeks - and could not be faulted in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Derby County.
The former Reading man, out of contract in the summer, has kept four clean sheets in his last six outings.

Club expected to 'clarify' the situation shortly.1

This explains why we had a 15-year-old in goal in the U-21s at Brighton yesterday: Phillips is in the squad for Leeds. Unless it's an April fool...4

Loan him out to Hungary, might get some games out there.1

He's been working part time in McDonalds in Charlton and he's got a shift tonight so can't get out of it.4

Not an April Fool, the story is potentially highly libellous.Viewfinder said:This explains why we had a 15-year-old in goal in the U-21s at Brighton yesterday: Phillips is in the squad for Leeds. Unless it's an April fool...

Kermorgant refused to play at one point9

Send him back. Very poor attitude which could be damaging to the rest of the squad.5

No, I am saying it is the sort of story that you could not print as a joke because it has very serious legal implications.Kap10 said:

He said "potentially" . In other words, the SLP better have their facts right. I'd have thought that they would make sure they do.Kap10 said:

Another great Roland signing!1

Indeed, you'd have to run this past the legal team and quadruple-check it because you are basically accusing Thuram of professional misconduct.PragueAddick said:

If it turns out he did not travel because his Mum was ill or he had the Flu then the paper would be up shit creek.0 -
Jog on thuram. Not wanted here.5

Grounds for termination of his contract, I would have thought. So he gets sacked by Roland and goes back to Liege to work for Roland.8

Even if we could recall Nick Pope - and it seems that we can't - it would be harsh to end his brilliant run at York, just to warm the bench. I've seen Dillon Phillips just the once - U-21 pre-season friendly at Dartford last July - and he was superb, made many excellent saves in our 2-0 win.1

But it really is bizarre if true. He has already had more chances in his first month than e.g the Danish keeper had under Curbs, who went on to get loads of caps for Denmark.1

He probably heard what it was like in 1987!0

If true this was always going to end in tears. CP never fancied him after he stepped in at Boro at short notice, weetabixed their goal, and saved a couple with his feet, flapped his way through the Wigan game when if one of our regular keepers had been available would have got us something there. Had little to do in the home game v QPR except nearly present their forward with a goal from a bouncy pass back but bread and butter if he'd stuck his boot through it. Maybe if this guy straps his boots on his hands and puts his gloves on his feet he might still get to the World Cup but don't bank on it. Riga obviously doesn't rate him over Hamer either.6
