We all hate Leeds scum , we all hate Leeds scum , we all hate Leeds scum , we all hate Leeds scum
Beautiful result against those norvern monkeys
The binary bores continue to grind on
Reza has that in his locker , just hope he can push on from this with us
Ben Hamer , took me from the depths of despair to a beautiful buzzing high
Well done to the 251 who made the trip , especially to those from down south , that's why you go to the other squillion games of dross defeats for sweet moments like that

65% Championship football returns for another season at The Vallley
35% A nightmare return to League One hell

Great result. Absolutely massive. The important thing is we're winning the games in hand (Forest and Leeds) so keeping our heads above water. Counting no chickens yet but we beat Yeovil and Barnsley and surely we'll be ok. Up The Addicks! Hats off to Reza, Hamer and Jose!

Getting mobile reception at East Finchley and finding out that Charlton have won at Leeds: Priceless

Did not even know there was a game on at the theatre of dreams. Seems you had good seats and bought a large round so had a few!

Sorry you missed the excitement of the thread, could have been worse, at least you were not at some boring old play.

Important result for another reason, if Leeds go into administration then with the 10 point deduction we would be I point above them, unless of course the points eduction will not come into force until next season, anyone know the rules? In which case this post is pointless, like all my other ones.

It's not pointless at all. I checked this yesterday. The key points are:

    - the penalty for declaring admin normally happens in the season when admin is called.
    - the only reason it would be held over to the following season is if the penalty in the current season would not hurt, I.e. If a club is comfortably mid table
    - and it is also believed that the points deduction in Leeds case would be more than 10 points as it is the second time in recent years.

Therefore this priceless win is doubly valuable as it drags Leeds closer to the point where relegation threatened teams can catch them.

It could indeed be the most important win of the season.

I really like Jose's style, and apparently a really nice fellow who actually gives time to the young players. I particularly like that when we go a goal up, we keep the pressure on instead of falling back to defend for our lives. I was watching BBC live commentary, and we seemed to have the upper hand in the second half apart from extra time. This team deserve a decent crowd on Saturday, and those of you who are still abstaining please come back, you know you want to.

    Well done lads, great result.

That match is a turning point, and has probably won Hamer POTY on a day when the other clown refused to get on the bus.

  • The wins at Leeds andForest have given us a real chance.Jose seems to be both calm and capable, the football is certainly better since he arrived. Also his understated manner after replacing a Charlton legend has hit exactly the right note.we know he has a squad of only limited ability but he is not afraid to change the team and make important substitutions. He has given us a real chance of survival and all credit to him.If it is true that Thuram refused to travel then he should be sent back immediately

Good time to have played Leeds and Forest, still well done to the team & manager for taking advantage of the situation, those six points will hopefully give us a springboard to start moving away from the drop zone.

£34 saved, great night missed. I stuck £20 of my saving on Leeds at 6/5. So we went on to win. Very happy with that little bit of emotional hedging!

To the 250 odd who'd go anywhere at any price, you all should be at the front of the queue next time we get to an FA cup quarter final in about 2020, ( but I reckon you are all ST holders anyway!)

I was despondent when Powell was sacked and tried to clutch at straws: my late father was called 'Roland' so Roland Duchatalet can't be all bad, I thought. Then he appointed Jose Riga and my father was from Riga in Latvia, a coincidence?! No, I thought, he is sending good vibes and good results! Long may it last.
Or am I still clutching at straws?...who cares as long as we win on nights like that! Well done to the lads and hearty 300 who travelled. You deserve special badges. It was painful reading CL, watching SSN, CAFC Wall and the BBC site, and so what it was like for the travelling hoards, I can only guess at. COYRs.

I go to as many away games as I can afford but last night was so worth it. I like Jose too, calm and looks so cool. I love supporting Charlton.

I never thought I would say it but I bloody love Ben Hamer.

The bloke hasnt looked like getting near a penalty for ages and then he pulls that out of the bag.

Well done Jose, the lads and the travelling support.

Beat Barnsley and Yeovil and I think that could well be enough

Just waking up in Premier Inn Leeds City West.....please tell me it wasn't a dream!

Organised pressing football the Riga style and it paid off again. Pushing Reza in to the central area is a master stroke, he was so out of his depth on the right his link up play tonight showed real class. The team worked as a unit kept a high line as shown when JJ urged the back line to move up several times in the game. And Reza's goal was sheer quality.

And yes Fanny you can now uncover your eyes Hamer saved the penalty great to share the victory with you!

Someone should have told him Charlton will always let you down.
  • The finger should be pointed at the leagues top goalscorer.

The finger should be pointed at the leagues top goalscorer.

Not that bad a strike though, was it? Certainly not Michael Gray 1998. Ben called it right and then got down very very well. And it is not his first penalty save for us, is it?

Oh how good this feels today.

Good save. Good penalties are put where the keeper can't get to them. What side he goes should be irrelevant if the penalty is hit properly.

Just saying thats who i would be angry at not taking away from what was a good save.
  • Recieved the follwoing text from my downstairs neighbour no more than 2 minuties after the Hamer penalty save:

"Sam, can you please reduce the noise upstairs. You guys are really loud and our ceiling is vibrating because of the noise. Thanks. Kevin"

...the "you guys" is ironic as i was the only one in the flat at the time! COYR!

    From the last 10:
We are averaging 1.4 points per game
    Barnsley are averaging 1.3
    Mowaw are averaging 0.7
    Yeovil are averaging 1.1

Project this over the remaining games to the end of the season and you have:
    Charlton 50-51 pts
    Blackpool 48-49 pts
    Birmingham 47-48 pts
    Barnsley 45-46 pts
    Yeovil 39-40 pts
    Muwuw 37-38

Terrific goalkeeping .. Solid and clever defending .. at last a coherent midfield .. Reza!! a wonderful 'continental' goal that has been getting ever closer game by game (in a few months after a hard close season to toughen up he is going to be a fantastic little striker in the Le Fondre mould) ... a fine win against a fallen and demoralised giant in a 1/2 empty stadium ... we are on the climb, Leeds United is no longer united and is on the decline
