I think the question is.... Is he good enough for a new contract?

Which is obviously a big fat no

I thought we were right to release Bradley Wright-Phillips last summer, but that was on the presumption that we'd be getting someone better in.

So easy to say now that we should let Simon Church go, but not if it means we've got Simon Le Bon playing up front instead.
I'd rather have Rick Waller up front.
Gillingham have got first option on Waller.

How tall is Simon Le Bon and does he wear a sponge around his foot?

6ft 1 and a half inches according to Wikipedia, think that passes the test doesn't it? Not sure about the sponge though.

You are right, this is it...another poor performance and he'll be shipped out on loan and we'll never see him again

I give him 100% support, if you knock off the 2 zeros.

As he's starting today I hope he does the business and everyone gets behind him.

I just hope that if he does get a goal or assist then we don't have the reactionary "this is the turning point" nonsense, as happens with George every 3-4 games.

Want him to do well obviously but just cannot see the point in us playing him.

I seem to remember him playing very well that day.

Here, here. Regardless of opinion (and I admit to having a pretty low one when it comes to his footballing ability), he is wearing the red shirt and deserves the same support as any one of our players (perhaps more so). Hopefully he will pop up with a goal.

Genuinely excited to see Churchy back. He's not brilliant but bloody hell he works hard. It's never boring when Spongefoot's around
  • Can't be there today, so got the radio on. Emma Jones just said: 'Charlton playing a strong side today, though they do include Simon Church.'

    Harsh, l thought.

Always 100% for every Charlton player. Anyone good enough for the manager to pick them is good enough to get my support.

He was on the pitch for about an hour.
We had 2 shots on target in 96 minutes.

Was it one of his shots that took out the floodlights?

Touched the ball about 4 times, and looked unremarkable. Probably his best game in a Charlton shirt?

Could he get that much height on the ball?
  • Perhaps he can harness his energy and reinvent himself as a midfielder because:-
    a) he's never gonna be a striker no matter how many levels he drops.
    b) until bans unwind/injuries mend we have no midfield cover at all

Tbf with the power in his shots, he would struggle to take out a table lamp.
