Valley Gold Straw Poll

Having just got an email asking me to renew my VG membership I thought I'd take a straw poll on VG especially given the success of the Academy this season both at U21 and first team level.

For those that aren't aware Valley Gold is a charity, separate from the Football club, that raises funds to support the CAFC academy. Over the years this organisation has donated approximately 2.5 million pounds to the CAFC academy.

A) I'm a member and will be renewing

B) I'm a member but won't be renewing

C) I'm not a member but will be joining

D) I'm not a member and won't be joining

In no more than 10 words please give the main reason for your choice.

member since 1989.would consider not renewing if too many academy players sold or worse loaned to liege [free]?.I am watching this space with interest as to how new owners treat the "crown jewels/family silver.

    D) Spend too much with/at Charlton as it is. This includes season tickets/away tickets, merchandise, money spent in pub before games and the cost of away travel.

A - if you have a spare ten quid and support CAFC then this is the best way to spend it, and you might win a prize, I did :)

    D. Essentially as I couldn't justify the extra expense but also an element of I think this is really the owners job. If you are to the run the club properly then investment in the youth/the academy should be a priority. It shouldn't be for a charity to provide.

A; but i'd better win something in the draw soon!. I remember winning four times in one season at Selhurst and I am sure my number was taken out of the draw as a punishment :-)

    A) I joined it to help us return to the Valley and have only won £25 in Woolworths vouchers and a coffee maker in all the years I have been contributing. I think my ball dropped out of the barrel some time ago! It might have fallen out with your ball Prague as my prizes date back to the Selhurst days too! There is probably some delapidated porta cabin in a dump somewhere with our VAlley Gold balls in it! But I am glad to do my little bit – especially when you see players like Shelvey, Jenkinson, Solly, Cousins, Poyet, Fox and Harriot come through.

A initially to support the club, but recently with box access, traing ground visits and priority I see it as great value. I win diddly though

D - I cancelled my membership after the Swindon play off debacle. In those days I didn't miss an away game so VG was a way of supporting the club financially and pretty much guaranteeing an away ticket when demand was high, that didn't happen for Swindon although I did get a ticket

    A) Everytime we have been under the cosh for money in the last 30 (?) years, we have solved it with the sale of a youth player. Without the youth product, we would surely have folded/admin by now.

    A) Been in from the start and not aware that I need to renew as have never cancelled my DDM. The production of first team players from the youth set up has been the one constant throughout our history and happy to contribute to that.
