I'm just as anxious as anyone that Morrison is signed up but given the fact that he is only a couple of weeks away from being unemployed I would have thought he might have remained in the country and delayed his holiday for a week or so to get things sorted out. Moaning that ideally he wants something offered before he gets back is I'm sure true. Perhaps if he were here it would be far simpler. In all honesty I think it's another example of professional footballers inability to live in the real world and prioritise things. Get your life sorted out then nip off to the beach.

If Katrien is reading this I am available as a cheap courier to shift the paperwork to whatever sunbed and umbrella Morro is sitting under.

maybe he couldnt afford to lose out on the holiday previusly booked as will be out of a job soon...

Need to sign up Morro. But I'm half expecting Roland to bring in Ben Haim as a replacement to keep it within the network.

Sounds to me like he wants to stay if we offer him a contract

A DECENT contract. Don't forget that most of these players are on the contracts that they were given at the start of the League 1 title season. They're entitled to expect a wage increase or, at the very least, not to be asked to take a pay cut.

That's not quite correct. I think most of the 2011 signings had deals that increased their wages on promotion. Morrison is on average money for Charlton and reasonable money for the Championship, as far as I can judge it. I don't imagine he'd accept a pay cut, because he has proven himself at this level and is progressing in his career. I think he'd easily get his current money elsewhere in the division, so why should he?

However, I do think the club's plans are important in the contract negotiations, as suggested. It's not just about the money.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. But, as you say, he's unlikely to accept a pay cut and nor would I expect him to.

I wouldn't expect him to accept a pay cut.

However, how are wages going to ever come down, if no one will accept a pay cut ?

Things may well have moved on since the interview, however, its just really disappointing we don't 'as a club' seem on top of these things.

Morrison has been an above average performer of the last three years. A reliable presence who has consistently performed. Other lot letting players like him get in an out-of-contract situation has been well covered. But the new lot have had since January to sort out these key players. Five months now, yet he is 'hoping for something when he comes back off holiday'.

It just gives the impression the 'approach' is not what you'd hoped it would be.

Some players will accept lower pay, but more likely the younger players won't be able to command the wages already being earned by older players as they progress. The point is surely that individuals don't stand still - their careers are either moving forwards or backwards, so even if there is an average fall in wages the players whose careers are progressing - Poyet being an obvious and extreme example - will still get pay rises.

The worst thing about this is that it's not surprising. Yet to be convinced at all by Duchatalet yet.

Certainly not going hang myself. Not when I've got all that humble pie to look forward to that you kindly offered me on the Dervite thread, as soon as it turns out that everything is fine because even though we've got rid of our best players, we've replaced them all with trainee waffle bakers and our matchday catering is now the best in the Conference South.

If he's gone on holiday immediately after the season finished, then it doesn't sound like he's desperately looking for another club. I'm quietly optimistic he's re-sign when he returns

What is starting to hit me is that we are becoming an unattractive club to sign for, we are not treating our players with the dignity they deserve. As a club it should be our first call of action to sign up the likes of Morrison as one of our ever-consistent players, to put his future at ease and for the fans too. We are offering these loans to players with apparently nice wages, and most are turning us down... from the outside looking in...

He's out of the country on holiday , we didn't offer him a contract before because we didn't know what league we would be in , he's got a offer when he comes back . Stop panicking .
    Such depressing people.
I'm confident we will be happy with our squad by the time the season starts .
Any body else confident or is it just the same people waiting with the noose ?

All well and good but both Jackson and Wiggins were offered new contracts without knowing what league we'd be in.

    @Yann897,

I'm not saying you're wrong, but what signals are there that make you confident we will be happy with our squad?

There doesn't seem to be much urgency in signing up the spine of our side (there's no reason why we couldn't have planned for staying up and make it a priority when confirmed), our recent transfer/loan activity has been disappointing, and indications from RD are that he won't pay a penny over what he - not the market - determines players are worth.

Everyone is different. Some support Mr D whatever and hope like you. Others take what he says at face value (eg breaking even, the importance of youth, sharing players around the network, important thing is a good day out, happy clappy red days etc) and worry.

    Time will tell.

    No, I think it's probably only you & a few others :-)

Most are worried, but are waiting to see what transpires.

Many are worried and not as patient to wait & see.

Not really any signals in particular but I'm just positive rd won't want another relegation scrap , I think he's gonna learn from jan , like katrien said

But nobody fully knows if we're gonna be happy come august that's why I don't get all the negativity and some of it is ridiculous from the same posters every time .

I like working where I work, but if someone came in and offered me a 50% rise to go somewhere else, even if it meant losing a few of the aspects I like about my current employer, I'd accept very quickly. And my career doesnt end around 35 y/o.

Key players should have been signed up with Wiggins and not even have got to this situation. Morro has been a vital part of the team for me and whilst I can understand the lack of offer to Dervite or even Hamer (though I consider him to be key), Morro should have been regarded as core for us.

Sorry but RD and his team are just as responsible for this as our previous two owners, and this needs resolving immediately.
