Can someone explain to me what's going on in terms of our manager situation?

Is Jose Riga staying?
Are we finding someone new ( hopefully English )
If so then who would be on the top of your wish list?

The Supporters want Riga to stay

    Riga wants to stay

If Roland doesn't want Riga to stay then the general consensus is it will probably be a little-known Belgian or Israeli who will replace them.

Absolutely zero point in having a wish list

It'll either be Riga or someone within the network. Roland will be doing the draw live on CAFC player Sunday night.

RD's not seen my CV yet.

The Amhurst Primary School "Panthers" team winning the Sunday Morning Football Challenge three years on the trot, hasn't gone unnoticed in Belgium.

I think that Roland knows who will be Manager next season, altho he might still be talking to Jose Riga about staying.

Looks like next week we will find out. I wonder who the "other candidates" might be ?

Why? Get it over and done with and start planning for next season.

Perhaps RD want to speak with those other candidates first. I think that constitutes planning for next season.

Considering the other candidates are probably all from within his network, there's no reason why he couldn't have spoken to them already. Mind you, probably not such a need to hurry with planning for next season, as all our new players will also most probably come from within the network, so it's not as if we're in a race with other clubs to get them signed. If they're in place for the start of pre-season that will probably be considered sufficient.

Not that I agree with any of this network rubbish - I preferred it when I was supporting a football club, rather than the London office of a European sports franchise.

If that's the case, we are truly f**ked. Apart from maybe AA (still not 100% convinced), I think it's been shown over the last 3 months that Standard "rejects" can't cut it in the championship. As for the other clubs with his stable, european pub teams................

I'm sure we will sign a few "network" players but I'm confident the majority won't be.

  • Given that JR (reportedly) wants the job, surely its a very easy decision. The rest of the league will be laughing at us if we let him slip away IMHO.

I think if he doesn't get it now there will either have to be a very impressive alternative appointed or a very good explanation given.

I'm hopeful he will get it but not so sure about my other two points if he doesn't.

Riga couldn't have staked a better claim for the job, the players seem to like him, he wants to stay.

We knew our situation weeks ago and yet here we are, still with no manager and a load of out-of-contact players who have no clue what the club's doing.

Meanwhile us plebby little fans all wait with baited breath for the end of the football season in Belgium and the latest whim of our chairman, without one word from the club.

    Great set-up this.

Few rumours knocking about that he will be the next SL manager, but they are just rumours.

RD doesn't seem to me like the type of man would would feel he had to give us fans an explination of any kind...............

Unfortunately, all the evidence so far suggests that it's perfectly fair. We don't have a manager, we may well lose Dervite, Morrison and Hamer, and we are still completely in the dark as to the direction that Duchatelet intends to take the club in. If we were customers rather than supporters, and this was a normal company rather than a football club, I very much doubt that any of us would be willing to send any business in Charlton's direction because we wouldn't have a clue what we were getting in return.
