Very cool feature on the BBC website with lots of facts, stats and footage. Thought it deserved it's own thread.

Yes, I read that. The interesting thing, I thought, was the difference between the success rate (93%) when taking a pen to win compared to the success rate (44%) when taking a pen to avoid defeat. That's a hell of a variation and may explain why the team going first has won every shootout since 2002.
