Bunch of arseholes. Isn't representing your country enough reward?
I'm assuming that, for some of them, 61k is life changing money.
Reminds me of when the Windies played England in a one-off game for the Stanford Cup, and every player was guaranteed a million dollars for the winners. Windies duly won, and some of the lesser paid Windies players put their winnings into accounts in Stanfords Bank - only for them to lose it all when it went bust some months later when it was found to be a 'Ponzi'.

Always wondered if they got the Stamford money or not.
I'm sure this happened at the last World Cup with one of the African sides.
Togo.
I vaguely remember that - but wasnt it a more sombre reason like they had been involved in a plane crash that had wiped out half the team some months earlier and they wanted some financial payment to the families of the beareaved?

The Togo team bus was attacked by rebels at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola a few years later, unrelated though.
