    Sanchez 1-0
    Aussies are shocking.
15,000 fans though, oohaah will be wetting himself.

    Australian fans?
by all accounts (the commentators) yes.
Great numbers for a night game on TV.
  • Terrific effort from the Aussies. Ange has only just taken over the team and he will improve them in no time. They can't yet compete with the very top nations, but certainly will be a match for the rest

Chile deserved that third, after the poor offside call slightly earlier.

Chile played poorly, not sure why. Like a race horse that idles in front. Almost came unstuck.

Chile were superb in the first 20 minutes, then the Aussies forced them to sit back. Once the Aussies decided to have a go it became a good game. Was Cahill offside? Don't think so. If Aussie had got the equaliser they would have won the game. So close...............

  • Good game, i considered switching off after 20 minutes, as thought it would be 90 minutes of Chile playing it around Australia where you almost feel sorry for them but in the end they sorted out their defence and had a good go, correct decision with Cahill's second though, clearly offside.

Australian goalscorer Tim Cahill claims that Gonzalo Jara admitted to him during the Socceroos' 3-1 defeat last night that he was " a cheat".
"I called him a cheat. And he said 'yes, I'm a cheat, so what'. That is not gamesmanship ... this needs to be out of the game," said the former Everton midfielder. - Correct me if I am wrong, but Tim, that is gamesmanship...

I think you have omitted the most pertinent part of the story!

Cahill called him a cheat because Jara elbowed him in the face as a ball was coming in and then went down himself - meaning Cahill got booked whilst actually being the victim....

Tim Cahill has never cheated? OK.
