    Robin Hood/Ivanhoe/Sir Lancelot/William Tell/Sir Francis Drake,The Buccaneers/ The Count of Monte Cristo/Sword of Freedom/The Scarlet Pimpernel.

    Things were pretty bleak for kid's TV in the '50s but when ITV started in '55/56 they brought in loads of stuff from the US, especially western series. The last lot above all came from Lew Grade's ATV company and were almost interchangeable : they just wore different costumes. But they were popular and also produced a number of future stars such as Roger Moore, Robert Shaw, Robert Hardy, and Paul Eddington.

  • No no no. Tuckers luck was just an attempt to keep Tucker in public after Grange Hill finished. I saw one episode and that was too much.
  • Robinson Crusoe (as a kid in the mid 70s they always ran an old black and white series in the school summer holidays - loved it!)
