Another Grange Hill vote Rainbow Mary, Mungo and Midge Batman Scooby Doo but not the s**t version with his annoying nephew Scrappy, I want to be clear on that.
Robin Hood/Ivanhoe/Sir Lancelot/William Tell/Sir Francis Drake,The Buccaneers/ The Count of Monte Cristo/Sword of Freedom/The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Things were pretty bleak for kid's TV in the '50s but when ITV started in '55/56 they brought in loads of stuff from the US, especially western series. The last lot above all came from Lew Grade's ATV company and were almost interchangeable : they just wore different costumes. But they were popular and also produced a number of future stars such as Roger Moore, Robert Shaw, Robert Hardy, and Paul Eddington.
Robinson Crusoe (as a kid in the mid 70s they always ran an old black and white series in the school summer holidays - loved it!) Land of the Giants The Champions Joe 90 Stingray
Did tommy steele do 'the night before christmas'? Charlie drake did something along the lines of 'grandpa in my pocket'. Saturday mornings flash gordon, laurel and hardy, and harold lloyd repeats.
