If you need something to make you feel better, take a look at how tough England's task in Brazil has been. If you add the current FIFA rankings of the teams competing in each group (i.e. the lower the total, the stronger the group), you get the following outcome:
Group A (Brazil's group) 97
Group B (Holland's group) 92
Group C (Colombia's group) 89
Group D (England's group) 54
Group E (France's group) 82
Group F (Argentina's group) 113
Group G (Germany's group) 56
Group H (Belgium's group) 109
If you take the top 3 sides in each group and ignore the weakest team, you get
Group A (Brazil's group) 41
Group B (Holland's group) 30
Group C (Colombia's group) 43
Group D (England's group) 26
Group E (France's group) 49
Group F (Argentina's group) 69
Group G (Germany's group) 19
Group H (Belgium's group) 52
Whatever way you look at it, FIFA's seeding system doesn't seem to be very fair with Groups D & G being substantially tougher than others. We can still win it.
