FFS. You are entitled to have a happy delusion / dream but why are you having a dig at people who don't share that ?markmc68 said:Sorry guys. I was just trying to lift the mood. Always so negative on here. Glass half empty brigade.

That Glass half empty brigade. It is a nonsense phrase. Glass half empty, glass half full. The liquid in the glass is only at half level for ffs. If you half way acknowledged that you would not having a dig at posters for not whole heartedly going along with your thread.
It is like buying rounds of pints. You have come back with a half pint in a pint glass. The person you have bought the drink for, says that it is a half pint. You then respond well at least it is half full, at least you have a drink. Why are you complaining ? You then have a go at the person for being negative for pointing out that it is a half pint and to top it off, that really the drink is as good as a full pint.
What is really going on with the 'half glass full brigade' comment is pretending the glass is full and having a dig at people for not going along with it.6 -

Yes, Mark. I am excited about the new season, like I always am in July. However, saying 'always so negative on here' because people don't think we're going up is harsh to say the least.markmc68 said:Sorry guys. I was just trying to lift the mood. At the start of June were you excited about England winning the World Cup? If not, you are 'so negative'.1 -
Not much anti Roly on here
That's positive. We have to stick together.1 -
Easy....the other teams have signed players too and some of them had pretty good squads to start with.

Me too!ValleyGary said:Mark I'll join you on the happy bus, but this is CharltonLife so it could be just us two on a romantic one.

Still in the 'wait and see' camp.
Whether the next player coming in is of the calibre of Ezekiel or TBH will probably set the tone....0 -
What other versatile defenders are out there ?0

as it stands atm and in anticipation of what may happen transfer wise

Yeah I'm delighted our chances of promotion are considerably higher than last year! I however am hoping for a solid mid table to top half finish and building a young squad to come into their own in a year or two...0
-
Not excited, excited to see how our new signings fit in and will be happy with a mid table finish. No drama like last time. If i'm not honest no reason why we can't sneak into a play off place. Seen crazier things and we were close a couple of seasons ago.0

New manager, new players ( no recognised first choice keeper) pretty much unheard of signings , over reliance on youth , promotion...of course it's going to happen!1

Bloody good way to boost your 'lol' count0

Typically tight bookmakers. Add a "0" on both and there might be a trading opportunity if we get a flyer!Rufus is a dogs name said:We're 20-1 for promotion currently, 80-1 to win the league

I am certainly excited about the new season, and seeing the new look squad, but in my opinion challenging for the top 6 would be a massive achievement. However there is no doubt that Roland and Bob are ambitious, so the next few years could be fun.
Note to the half empty brigade, come on put a smile on your face and lets enjoy the ride together.0 -
Excited about our new team but don't expect promotion.0
-
I want it to be different but I've got a slight sense of deja vu relating to the Dowie era. Back then I was looking forward to a different style with new players but the results didn't follow. That said, I'm very much looking forward to seeing the new team and manager in action (and the new pitch!)0

Will be a lot of s*** going on if we do not do the business and Peeters is outed sometime in the season.0
-
The three relegation favourites with the bookies are Blackpool, Millwall and Charlton.0
-
I'd replace millwall with Rotherham.0

The squad are on 2-3 year contracts. If we can keep rebuilding then 2015-16 could be a great season.iainambler said:I'm excited that I will see Charlton playing in the Premiership but I am trying to be realistic in that it won't be at next season. I'd like to be able to eat those words should it actually happen.
To my mind if we want the Prem we need to be stable first and I think three or four more years in the Championship at the very least will ensure that. What's vital is that we don't get promoted only to bounce back down the following year.
If RD's plan to have a strong academy feeding in is fully realised this may give us that stability - it will take a while to get the atmosphere and culture focused and consistent and for that to feed into the first team and ultimately the club.
Love the optimism by the OP... If we are to get lucky and land in 6th place we need 3 x quality players in the next few weeks and for the new look squad to hit the ground running. By quality I mean players signed (or on loan) valued at £1M+ like the rumour about PSG striker!
The reason I say 3 and not 6 is that we have the September loan window and then January... We simply can't predict where we will be end September let alone January but isn't it great to hope for a decent season?!0 -
I like this as impossible to rule out finishing in the bottom 6 until we know who else signs and how the team gels. I sense we will secure 62-68 points and have offered @operationpig a bet on the basis we will finish above Wednesday forth third time in the last four seasons. So 9th to 15th for me right now.oohaahmortimer said:as it stands atm and in anticipation of what may happen transfer wise

That's a ridiculous bet. They're getting promoted haven't you heard?seriously_red said:
