  • Always thought given time Reza would come good. The shots that hit the woodwork had gone in , everyone would be waxing lyrical over him.

I think Reza is technically gifted and has a good touch - but the physicality of the Championship/English football is too much for him

I agree, but I saw a much different Reza at the world cup. His movement and positioning as a lone striker was very good, he actually covered 32km over the 3 games which was a fair bit more the Rooney, Gerrard and co which showed that It's mentality more then anything.
Shame he didn't do the same for us.
  • Aside from Igor, he's better than what we currently have so would definitely have him back. Not sure he's too motivated about playing for us though

Lightweight, ineffective and always looking for the opportunity to chuck himself on the floor.

    No thanks.

    Exactly this.
  • Shocking player. I'm normally the one who gives players a chance but Reza has no presence up front and never defends.

I'd rather have the wealdstone raider up front

In a charlton shirt last year maybe but in the World Cup he was superb.
The question is why he only turns it on when playing for his country.
For me, Vetokele aside, he's better than anyone we have have in our side at the current time.

  • I don't want Rezza back, but in his defence let's not forget that he joined a weak disjointed team with a disillusioned manager in a league where the physicality was something he had not experienced before. With better players around him and a good pre season who knows if he could have achieved more.

I think the main point is he knew that he would be in the Iran squad for the World Cup as long as he didn't get injured. He got kicked around a bit and stood his ground in the World Cup because he wanted to be there and prove his worth.

He came into a struggling charlton team in a physical league when all he wanted was a quiet half-season somewhere he would just tick over before Brazil.

Who knows what he would have been like for us this season, playing on a nice pitch and trying to play nice football? I was certainly hoping to find out.
  • I think he would be good to have back. Another different option - but would he play in the same team as TBH... Iranians and Israelis...mix about as well as tomato juice and milk!
  • I would give him another chance if he was motivated, he did have a poor few months for us but as others have already said, he showed at the World Cup he can play a physical game, especially against Argentina, i was dissapointed he decided to take the money and leave, as a more settled Reza with us would have been an asset this season IMO.
  • Are you all joking?! He was dreadful last season! Church had much more of an impact yet you all hate him!
  • I always thought Reza would benefit from playing alongside a target man, same with Igor.
  • Miss you Reza <3
  • my god. Are things so bad that we really think he's the answer?..................
  • Rather have Pitor back

  • As much as Reza is a legend to us and how well he done for us when he was here he clearly doesn't want to be here so for that reason I'm out.

Reza banged that goal in up at Leeds.... More than church did all season

That was a great strike, keeper never smelt it, followed by an injury time penalty save by Hamer, massive 3 points that night towards survival. That goal and the shot he smashed against the bar at Wigan on his debut are my fondest memories just a shame there weren't more.

Reza was disappointing in a poor Charlton team, same as Church last season

Church has been disappointing in a decent Charlton team this season(although it was only 25 minutes against huddersfield and 45 against Brighton), Reza has not had that opportunity
  • Didn't he hit the woodwork a ridiculous amount of times? Fine margins and all that.
  • Reza struggled because he joined a Charlton side when it was struggling for performances and some players werent at a good level.

We've now improved on that team (as the League and Points tally proves) so whats to say he wont do better, i.e. Wilson excelled last season in a poor team yet has been largely invisible because the quality has improved

Disagree, church produced the goal at Hillsboro which sparked the best away end celebrations I've been in
  • Maybe it's all about the pitch.

and scored the winner against Huddersfield in the FA cup. Also scored two against Oxford. Also scored against Doncaster twice (in the called off game and in the 2-0 win).

Reza scored against Leeds once and was generally awful in that game anyway. And as for hitting the bars...well i'm sorry but that's a shot off target
  • Reza is a quality player, apart from every time he played for us.
