    From a time before t'internet when you had to tune in to find out the scores. Loved trying the guess the 2nd score in a game just from his tone on the 1st team.

    Rest in Peace sir.

    Ditto, Tel. Great memories of Saturday teatime after consumption of hot crumpets dripping with butter in front of the fire.

    Remember when I was entrusted with the daily paper & pen to take down said results....Wasn't allowed to post them directly on the football coupon in case I messed up!

    Sleep tight, JAG.

    THE voice, the football results, an institution and a legend. RIP.
  • Part of the soundtrack to my life. RIP.

    Absolutely this, part of going to the football as a kid was sports report and JAG reading the results on the way home.

    Hearing the cheery voice and knowing you won, or the depressed one and being gutted you lost.

    An institution and a true gent. RIP JAG.
  • The most famous voice in football - 5 o'clock on Saturdays have not been the same since he retired - RIP.

    RIP. His voice always kicked in just as we reached the Blackwall Tunnel and then he was on the Scottish results by the time we emerged.

    Such a shame the beeb can't teach Charlotte Green how to properly use intonation the way he did.

    I knew he hadn't been well but it still comes as a shock. One of the football voices of my childhood. No one could do the results quite like him. A sad loss. RIP.

    The biggest mystery was what he did for the rest of the week.

    Best commissioner Gotham has ever seen. :-(
  • Oh man that's really sad news. So many Saturday afternoons as a kid rushing back to my grandads car after the match to hear JAG reading out the scores. Another good one gone. RIP

    I would rather do a minutes applause for JAG than some that we have done it for.

  • I tend to avoid the grief-porn threads but JAG was a genuine national treasure.

    Nice piece on F365;
