Was reading this thread yesterday, thinking it has to be Aguero. But players vote for the trendy, fashionable name that journalists pump out so it'll be Sterling, VVD or Son.
Not sure VVD’s son will win it just yet.

This is absolutely spot on, sometimes I speak to people about the PL and they literally quote football pundits word for word on certain subjects.

The media have talked about Sterling winning the award since the Chelsea incident attempting to create the narrative that he’s some sort of hero, Adrian Durham the football version of Piers Morgan reckons his penalty V Chelsea should have won goal of the season ffs, laughable stuff.

When we’re talking about quality this season aguero is miles ahead.  I’m also not sure why Sadio Mane isn’t mentioned he’s been outstanding.

I’d probably go out on a limb and say that pundits and people that watch the premier league are heaping praise on Raheem Sterling is because in 28 Premier League games he’s scored 15 goals and has 11 assists.

And not as a central striker either.

A problem players who perform season after season face is that people expect them to keep being good, so there's no story, no "journey"
