Came back from Amsterdam ten days ago and similar happened to me and Mrs AUN. Bloke on the passport desk took great interest in checking my details and looking at his screen. Got a bit paranoid tbh but he just waved me through in the end.
Came back from Spain mid August and as we left Espana the passport control bloke kept asking my 10yr old daughter "Are you Ruby?" (in a jokey way) and when we got back to Gatwick the fella on PPControl started singing the Kaiser chiefs song to her! (After queueing for nearly an hour)!
That reminds me, the border guys at Amsterdam are brilliant. We were leaving after a weekend there, went straight from a coffee shop to the airport. My mate went up to the booth, he is a black guy with really long dreads. Border guy looked at him, checked his passport and said "I hope you had a good birthday" then just started chuckling to himself as he handed the passport back.
Flying back from JFK once and a school friend of mine (he was 16 at the time) had the same name as one of America's most wanted. It clearly wasn't him but that didn't stop them holding him in a room for questioning for over an hour.
My missus gets this every time we go the the States as there is someone on the run who has the same surname as her. The thing is, she's a Danielle and the other bloke is a Daniel - border control over there never seem to 'get' it.
