Bale to partner Church

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29106394

"An injury to Sam Vokes means Wales have a paucity of attacking options, leaving Charlton's Simon Church as the only recognised striker in the squad"

Such a talented squad. And yet...

I think Simon would prefer playing with Igor.

The most expensive player in the world and the only player in Charlton history fans would pay to sell.

Betting on Church to score and Bale to miss an open goal?
  • ok he isn't an out and out striker but he doesn't deserve the ridicule a number of you give him

    Gareth Bale?
  • Good luck to Churchy, hope he gets a goal or two.

Will do his confidence good and give him game time.
  • Maybe if he gets a partnership going with Bale, Madrid will finally meet the asking price

I think he's a bit of a Varney, not as good as varns but he's not as bad as you lot make out!

You're being harsh on bale there lancs. He is the worlds most expensive player after all.
  • Gareth Bale on hearing the good news.

I feel sure Gareth will put in a good word for Churchy at Real Madrid, and to be fair Roland shouldn't demand any more than £5mil so as not to stand in Simons way.
  • Poor old Church. I never quite recall him being a lazy wotsit like Sordell. He has run his gonads off in many a game for us. Yes, he might strike the ball so tamely it gives the impression its actually travelling backwards but some of the stick he gets on here is totally uncalled for
  • I think Churchy has done alright in this side.

He isn't the greatest but he works hard and tries his best. He is better than a lot of the overrated and over paid Prima donnas we have had in recent years. I genuinely hope he doesn't read these comments.

hope he scores a 30 yard screamer into the top corner and finally puts those "spongefoot" nicknames to bed

Good luck to him. The abuse he gets on here is uncalled for. Wouldn't be in the Welsh side if he was as bad as people make him out to be.

Poor old Church has done nothing wrong this season in the limited game time he's had yet still gets stick.
Lucky it's all so hilarious otherwise it might get boring.....

Hopefully he bangs in a few tonight.

Oh he's a Charlton Life darling now all of a sudden.

Fact is he has scored 3 league goals in 40 plus league games for us as a striker. Whatever he earns, its too much.
  • Give Church a break.

That may be true but Kermorgant didn't score many more for us last season and he is hailed as goodness knows what!

Let's face it, Messi would have struggled to have scored for us last season.
  • Bale and Churchy, who would of thought it.
  • Good luck churchy.....
  • When Gareth heard that he was partnering the Legend...

He hit one like that at Ebbsfleet, which went over the top of the stand and ended up in Gravesend!

Seeing the good work for the assist at Brighton, from out on the right.
Also on the left at the valley he has done some good runs.

The point is simon can't be a central striker as he is the worst headed of a ball at the club.

He's a wide boy, give him some space!

In all fairness kermorgant is a far better player and offered a lot more than just scoring goals.
