Reckon Jungle will win it, but I'd like to see it go to Anna Calvi.

Young Fathers win with an album that has sold just 2,386 copies since release in February.
  • Just listened to a couple of tracks from Young Fathers. Utter tripe.

Surprised it has sold that few, thought they were quite popular.

Very good .. very retro, late Tamla/Philly Sound, takes me back to the 60s/70s
  • Saw them supporting Chvrches about 2 years ago at Village Underground, they were truly awful, as bad as that Speech Debelle was.

Seeing them tonight at Shepherds Bush. Great live as well :)
  • When I heard the result last night, I thought the winners were Young Farmers. Whoops.
  • Jungle is mass eef

Only heard of Damon Albran, and he can't sing. I'll have a listen to the links Callum, cheers

  • Listened to the first half dozen, never realised that 'easy listening' was the theme these days.

Nothing there to challenge Let Loose imo
  • Saw them supporting Chvrches about 2 years ago at Village Underground, they were truly awful, as bad as that Speech Debelle was.

    But what about Jungle?
  • Just listened - albeit very briefly - to Young Fathers .. nothing that wasn't being done by US Rap artists 25 years ago .. my opinion ? .. derivative and tuneless rubbish
  • I don't think you can just pigeonhole them like that. Of course they draw on hip hop but there's an awful lot of other influences as well. It's quite an experimental album. Hip hop in general is also going through quite a change at the moment, there are a lot of acts who haven't broken through to the mainstream and it's quite a healthy scene, thankfully it has moved away from the bling and courvoisier days of about 10 years ago.
  • imho a weak list has resulted in a weak winner, perhaps they went for the least tedious option, although on that basis I'd have gone for KT or AC, in fact would have been a good time to award it to the token Jazz band.
Judges must have needed a lot of coffee to keep them going.
I quite like Damon Albarn's album but it is easy going stuff.
  • Lincs, what was funny about my comment?
  • I thought 'bling and courvoisier' was funny.

Jungle are decent imo. The other two I agree.

Ah fair enough, I was being genuine though.
