  • Last photo, so that's where Astrit went!
  • I absolutely love these dudes. So random but quality.
  • Flabbergasted by this. But good to have some russians on our side in the current climate. Or at any time, for that matter.

Can we get the VOTV to sort out an interview / feature on these blokes.
  • Apologies if somebody's already suggested but could this have been spawned from Smertin's stint with us?
  • That goalie looks like an absolute legend.

the russians were Spartak Moscow fans who were originally visiting to see the champions' league gave vs Arsenal and ended up adopting Charlton

the CIFC gave against them was an absolute battering, we borrowed a couple of their players and ended up losing 7-1. Myself, @Oakster‌ @Charlton Charlie@randy andy‌ all played, not sure if any others are on here, @Oakster‌ 's report is below

then myself and oakster plus possibly others, I can't remember played against them for an Arsenal team and probably got battered again

I remember having to write out the words to Valley Floyd Road so they could all practice them
    -----------------------------------

A 7-1 defeat by the Russians. Fielding a very much under strength
side CIFC fought bravely in the first half to restrict the Ruskis to
just 2-0 at half time. A fine effort from Messrs Williams & Peters
in the middle at the back breaking up swarm after swarm of Russians
breaking through our midfield. Indeed it was reminiscent of
Stalingrad in 1942 when the brave Nazi defenders held out against
the communist counterattacking onslaughts, with suicidal Reds
swarming day & night across the river Volga. All this after the
Fatherlands glorious march across the Caucasas as part of Operation
Barabarossa had come to grinding holt in the backstreets &
    warehouses of Stalingrad.

The second half saw the Red's encircling the CIFC penalty area and
much like the 1942 fixture in which Generalfeldmarschall Friedrich
Paulus Sixth army had finally been encircled by revenge hungry
Russians, the boys in Ecru capitulated. 5 sniper like goals flew
past the hapless Guyott - with the only comic relief an unlikely
goal from Matt Owen. Much like Bergkamp's at Newcastle last year was
this the work of a football genius or an unitentional slice of pure
luck??? - I'll leave those that were there to judge!! The other
highlight was a shot on goal from Spinksy, which caused the Russian
keeper a (very) brief moment of concern.

In the end the maurauding Russians simply overwhelmed us & what
remained of the dreary, dejected CIFC troops marched off to the icy
Gulags of the Coldharbour changing rooms - never to be heard of
    again.

    CIFC (from):

    Feldwebel Guyott A.
    Unteroffizier Meegan A.
    Oberstleutnant Spinks D.
    Sturmscharführer Williams G.J
    Grenadier Peters K.
    Stabsfeldwebel Murfet N.
    Hauptmann Owen M.
    Russian Deserter No. 1
    Russian Deserter No.2
    Obersturmbannführer Prior J
    SS Schütz Bharij R.
    Unteroffizier Armstrong J.
    Leutnant Rose G.
    Obergrenadier Oakey A.

It was Operation Blue that ended at Stalingrad, Operation Barbarossa was the original invasion of the USSR the year before.
  • I can't really describe how happy that makes me.
  • That is terrific

Can you imagine the bed wetting if they came to a game

  • Go down well in the lower at Milwall
  • Louder than the cupboard end.
  • Just mimics. Nothing Charlton about them but the symbolism.

Just mimics. Nothing Charlton about them but the symbolism.

Leave off. One of their photos on their instagram account is of the valley after the Brentford game, with the caption: The mighty Charlton beat Brentford on Sunday in a massive 3-0 win. Great Picture: Charlton MOW sticker on the Valley just before the game.

Shows they do actually care about the result of the original Charlton, they just don't know their days of the week!
  • Have CARD sent them the protest shirt yet?

Wonder how many Moscow Addicks will go to this one...

    image

How about this for the very definition of "a tough place to go"...

Spartak Moscow travel to face SKA-Khabarovsk in the last 32 of the Russian Cup on Wednesday - a journey of just over 5000 miles.

If you were jumping in the car now, it would likely be some time on Sunday before you arrived. Makes complaining about trips to Inverness or Plymouth sound a bit hollow, eh?

As a point of comparison, the longest journey in Wednesday's EFL Cup ties is the 270-odd miles that Sunderland will travel to face QPR.

Would love to know how many people will take the route that'll take an extra 9-hours but what a Road Trip!!

would be a great excuse for a road trip (piss up) with the boys but wouldnt like to tell my mrs that when i said i was off to the football i actually meant id see her in two weeks!
  • Just imagine the journey back though if its a result like the Huddersfield game last season though.

Whats crazy is if Khabarovsk get into the Champions League (wont happen any time soon as they've never been in the Russian Top Flight) then teams are going have to travel as far as Japan basically to play there!!
