Great quote this.Draizetrain said:Not strictly a TV show but The Boat Race.
As a kid I thought it was a big national thing but as an adult you can see it for what it really is. A poncy race for super toffs with zero relevance for 99.99% of the population. Why this is a big TV event is completely beyond me.0 -

They were never good but what about the Black and White Minstrel show, what was that all about? Or Seaside Special? This was the sign that school was out for summer but also that there was only repeats and rubbish on tv till September.0

Different one every day. He ended doing a 5 mile walk home from school. He was Catford Advertisers Most Wanted for 2 years running.lordromford said:
What, every day? Did someone keep rebuilding it?Dave2l said:Used to run through a brick wall just to get home in time for neighbours.

It's probably the only sporting event the BBC can afford the rights for?Draizetrain said:Not strictly a TV show but The Boat Race.

No worries, deep down I think I deserve it, but it's just not making me laugh.cafcnick1992 said:
Sorry that I had to flag you, but in my opinion there is not a funnier character out there than Basil Fawlty.ken_shabby said:It tears my soul to admit this, but Fawlty Towers. I bought a box set of Towers back in may, and found bits of it embarrassing. I thought maybe it was because I liked it when I was Young, so I tried it on the children, but they both walked out after a while, citing 'better things to do'. Sad.
Anyway, the Major was always the funnier carácter on there.

They should bring back 'they think it's all over.'Bedsaddick said:
David Coleman was hardly a bundle of laughs though, was he.cabbles said:
Sue Barker. She's so bloody bland, just chuckling away as Phil Tufnell gets over excited trying to do the charades round.mattaddick said:Can I start with 'A Question of Sport' - I once (30 years ago mind) thought this was unmissable. I now find it toe-curlingly unwatchable.
Still gives her something to do in between Wimbledon and Sports personality of the year

Question of Sport broken down:
20% Sue Barker sucking up to some commonwealth bronze medalist, who gets applauded for answering a simple question about their particular sport, and then doesn't speak for the rest of the show.
20% Matt Dawson deliberating over a question, before plucking some knowledge out of nowhere to answer correctly, and acting like he's just scored a goal in the cup final.
20% new games to try and keep the audience interested, which usually just involve Dawson and Tufnell throwing things.
20% mystery guest, to see if they can guess if Dion Dublin or Robbie Savage is on a canal boat.
and 20% of Phil Tufnell pulling this face:7 -
