Picturehouse is really good, really good comfortable seats.

As for eating there are new places by the Cutty Sark like Zizzi's. There is a jamie oliver restaurant down the road where the awful Mexican restuarant on the main road is.

Haha, yeah hated that Mexican, the newer Noodle Bar, , Jamie coming up trumps so far but sometimes there little places people know about. Theres a Nandos down on the pier now as well isn't there, although I begrudge paying £15 for chicken and rice

  • Also had the worst chip shop ever on the one way system.

Byron is on the river too by nandos and Frankie and bennies? Jamie's is expensive and not great. (Too much for pasta and sauce you could make at home)

Food in The union on royal hill is nice but not cheap. Good beer though.

Picturehouse is great. Cinema of choice and have been members for past 3 years.
  • Cheers, My mum used to more or less run the Prince Albert on here own on Royal Hill.

Is the Union the nex one down and do they serve food food all night??

Also North Pole normally do 50% off food and it's tasty and looks swanky too. Normally do a 2 courses deal as well midweek. Nearer to Greenwich station out of the main bit.

Picturehouse is great. We have started going to the Mitre across the road for Sundqy lunch or the Mogul is good for a curry

    The Old Loyal Briton?

Sadly, closed and boarded-up: freeholder aims to demolish it and build a six-storey block of flats. The Union in Royal Hill is a good choice, otherwise the Rivington (next to the Picturehouse), or Davy's Wine Bar just beyond Greenwich station for consistently good food and drink.

Council Planning Departments have got a lot to answer for. It's bad enough seeing struggling pubs go out of business, it's even worse seeing thriving ones being forcibly shut down. They should be protected in some way.

Old Loyal Briton - more bland flats
Deptford Arms - one of over 10 bookies on Deptford High Street
Catford Tavern - Antic turned a dodgy drug den into a thriving community pub. Closed after Tesco bought the lease in the hope of installing a convenience store around 250 yards from their Catford superstore.

Totally agree with suggestion about The Hill and The Union for a night out - http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186338-d1749471-r115496160-The_Hill-London_England.html
Lived in Greenwich/Charlton for 7 years and this is the top restaurant I have found in the area - they even give free shots on a Saturday night.

Cinema was decent as well, will be cinema of choice now if we go out.

North Pole is good (massive portions) but not really a wine and dine a lady sort of place.

I would recommend 'Rare' by Maze Hill. Beautiful steak restaurant.
