What's the betting the attendance doesn't top 10,000?

Even on the cup run it was a shit draw time after time

A decent time would be nice, the spurs day out a few yrs back with Keith p in charge I think it was, was the last decent draw

Fulham away was after Spuds wasn't it, that was an excellent afternoon!

We'll just have to beat them and get a decent draw in the 4th round.

    Like Huddersfield, you mean?

In all seriousness, I know it's not the greatest draw, but it's a shame the reaction the Cup provokes now from (all) supporters unless you draw one of the few glamour clubs...

For me, the glamour clubs are only a part of the story. Sure it would be nice to have a crack at one of the big boys and if we won (or even drew) we'd have something to cherish forever. But, I'd be just as happy to be drawn against some minnows. I'd just like to see a bit of variety really. A chance to see us play a team we've not faced before - or at least for a very long time. This draw means that in three seasons we'll have faced Blackburn seven times.

I've just had a look at the cup ties we've had in the last 10 years. Not including tonight's draw we've had 23 ties, the vast majority were as boring on paper as they were on grass. Only three Prem teams: Middlesbrough, Spurs and Fulham. Whilst eight (35%) were from the Championship and eight (35%) against teams in the same league as us at the time. No disrespect to Blackburn, I'm sure they are every bit as unenthused as we are. But there's only one draw that had the potential to be a bigger turn off and that would have been to get Udders again.

PS for those who like punk and believe in iTunes Karma - a random shuffle from 8,000 tunes just threw up "Your Emotions" by the Dead Kennedys.

    Football for a fiver anyone?

Competition rules set a minimum adult admission charge of £10.

"Well someone's got to win it, why not us?"
  • Happy with that - see ya there! :-)
  • Boring tie but happy overall as it's obviously winnable and to me it's certainly more preferable than drawing a lower league side who would see us a scalp and who we'd inevitably lose to.

Either me or the missus will be there, couldn't imagine a Valley cup game without one of us going.

    Setting: AFKA Household

AFKA: No, go on love. You go and have a lovely day out and I'll look after the kids.
Ha, this normally occurs if I've been out on the sauce in a Friday night and somehow managed to set the house alarm off at 2am !

Could be worse, you could set the wife off at 2am.

Only if we play you on a Monday. We've got a 100% record at Hillsboro on a Monday. Unless you can pull out another Sheff Wed vs Charlton game when we played you on a Monday and didn't win.
  • In all seriousness, I know it's not the greatest draw, but it's a shame the reaction the Cup provokes now from (all) supporters you draw one of the few glamour clubs.

I don't go to football to see the oppo, I go because I want my team to do well and hopefully see an entertaining game, and I love going to The Valley. Either me or the missus will be there, couldn't imagine a Valley cup game without one of us going.

Hopefully it will be a decent game and a win.

I don't think the disappointment just comes from not getting a glamour draw, its more the fact they are from the same league. We get that in the league every week.

The appeal of the cup is the opportunity to play a team you are not playing already this season or maybe for even longer.

Also a chance to travel away to a new ground/town for the first time in a long time or ever even.

This gives us none of the above.

So of it has to be a team in your league at home, at least one which will either fill the ground a bit or you feel you have a good chance of winning - again this gives us neither.

Liverpool or Blythe - anything would be more interesting than Blackburn at home. And I'm sure they feel the same.

Oh well, I don't get back from my NY break until the 3rd, so pleased I'm not missing anything good.

It's an uninspiring draw and I just hope both clubs agree to very sensible pricing eg £5. Really wanted Dover or Palace or Millwall and look at the tie that came out after us. Oh well ....
  • I'm happy. Pull the ladder up...
  • Does anyone have a spare ticket that I can have?

Very sensible if you want to make sure of your ticket in the next round. :-0

I would love to know how this tie went down on the Blackburn forum given what's being said on here. At least we're at home......

    Rovers fans equally delighted

About us bad a draw as we could have got. Will be lucky to snare 10 seconds of highlights id imagine.

Can see us going out with a whimper.
The championship is a marathon, not a sprint.

    Rovers playing Charlton away
Not exactly an exciting draw is it???

That's us out then, concentrate on the league!

Thought this may happen got a slightly better team than us away, so we will play a mixture of reserves they will do the same and could literally go either way. Uninspiring to say the least. Suppose anything but a draw.

Yeah, dull draw for us. It'll be like watching a submarine race.

Probably one of the least appealing away ties we could have had.

Pretty much echoes my thoughts. Bye bye fa cup for another season. Exactly the sort of tie we didn't want or need. If you're going to go out it might as well have been to a big club

Somewhere in the world there is a sick perverse individual who is rubbing his hands with glee because he has a fetish for all Championship ties.

    Rotherham
    v
    AFC Bournemouth

    Huddersfield
    v
    Reading

    Bolton
    v
    Wigan

    Brentford
    v
    Brighton

    Fulham
    v
    Wolves

    Charlton
    v
    Blackburn

Half a championship match day programme there. A stain on the history of such a prestigious and renowned tournament.

    This is my favourite,

"Well that's it then. Lose to Charlton at Ewood in the league before Christmas and, when expected to gain revenge away in the cup in the new year, capitulate again."

he'd fit right in on here.
