You can dress it up however you like but Maidstone have an advantage in this return fixture.

Yup. I think they call it home advantage! :-)

Rubbish - we'd win every home game if that were the case.

Our home form last year was distinctly unspectacular.

Most clubs train on 3G these days for god sake.

If anything it suits a passing game and Stevenage being a technically better team on paper should benefit.

It's like saying Charlton disgrace of a pitch last year should have given us an advantage as other teams were not used to it.

Well done to Maidstone... Part of me isnt surprised after the recent vote against 3G pitches which Maidstone currently use, be interesting to see what Graham Westley (the Stevenage boss) thinks of this as always remember him to be a moany git when we faced them in League One ourselves

So in theory they could play on plastic throughout the FA cup?

Yes, this is the first season I believe. Prior to that you could only play in round 1, then be forced to play away or another ground.

He's already had an ill-informed rant. At least wait till you lose you twat.

Believe me he will if you win - NOTHING is ever his fault when Stevenage lose.

Only took a minute for the advantage to work.

Great news on the lash in Maidstone on Saturday!!!
  • Used to love going to see Maidstone when I was a kid, £5 would be enough for train from paddock wood, burger, a drink and entry - happy days indeed!!

I just wondered whether you guys have booked your train tickets for Huddersfield yet.
I love the FA Cup as it generally never costs too much to follow our boys.
A glamour tie at home would be nice. Someone like Liverpool who are a bit flaky at the moment.

@pettgra - Never mind all that. A thread with some more of your reminiscences is long overdue!

Surely you realised from last season!! :)

Charlton NEVER get a big team in the Cup... If we reached the Semi-Finals which involved Man City / Man Utd and Chelsea they'd still find a way to ensure we faced Championship opposition

Not that long ago we played away at Spurs - Peacock in charge before Powell came in?

This is of course the ideal season[in living memory] for a proper cup run.A decent team and no great chance of promotion[or relegation].lets keep hoping for one like last year.shame it cost scp his job.

Of course it will be, and televised at 4PM on Sunday when I am somewhere over the Bay of Biscay on my way home...

Does anyone know what date the 3rd round draw is? Can't find it on any of the F.A.'s online pages (there's a surprise)
