    Knowing our luck we would end up with a player who does not defend, cant cross to save his life and misses open goals :-)

    I love the way Bob says it how it is. So refreshing to hear.

    I agree with him re Callum, as I'm sure most do.

    Keep it simple and keep possession. Stop trying to run at them all the time & lose the ball.

    Also :-

    Maybe if fans were a little more patient with certain players, they wouldn't be trying so hard to please the fans rather than just work for the team!
    Hope Bob manages to get the best out of Callum because we've seen in flashes that he has the potential to become a very good player.

    When he hits form he can be unplayable. When he's off form you barely notice he's playing. End of last season he looked phenomenal but it's a gamble to keep playing him on the off chance he might produce the goods.

    he was total shit in the first half against Blackpool and it was only the fact they all were that he stayed on the pitch---his hatrick came from nowhere.

    the is a player in there as those 5 goals in the last 2 games showed its how you get it out of him consistently that is the million $ question. Big Bob is asking him to keep it simple for the players sake and CAFC i hope it works. If not he could just disappear down the leagues and out.

    He has pace, a trick or two and a work ethic. He lacks "nous." At 20 he is still young enough to get that and become a very good player indeed.

    At the moment he has shown tantalising glimpses but no more. He has the attributes to be as effective as that Drenthe (a Reading player strangely enough) was in the first half of the Sheffield Wednesday match.

    Can't help comparing him with Lloyd Sam at similar stage in careers although CH fitness seems better. Both have lovely skills, a bit of pace and ability to score goals. Sam appeared to lack the motivation/determination to push on and succeed, I hope CH manages to do what he couldn't. At his best he is an exciting player to watch.

    I do also think the crowd play a part, tricky wingers lose the ball, no one goes past their man every time. I don't think we at Charlton are used to this so when he takes a player on and loses the ball there is always an audible sigh/moan from the masses.

    For me the problem is he very rarely seems to get past the man at any time at all. If it worked sometimes then I would be more forgiving, but as Big Bob says, sometimes even a good winger needs to cut out the tricks and taking players on and just do the simple bits properly instead.

    Sam had a lot of skill but was physically lightweight and lacked a work ethic. He often seemed unfit to me. Harriott may not have all of Sam's silky skills but he is a lot more robust physically being quite prepared to mix it, faster, prepared to track back and has already scored more goals for Charlton than Sam ever did.
