Can I be the first to say that Chris Powell would have done well there.

As stated in the OP I know it was mentioned in a thread, but I decided to put it in a new thread in case no-one opened either of the other 2

It's on the BBC site .. Whelan historically has given his managers lots of time .. but the door to the third tier looms large and Wigan's already fragile support would disappear if relegation happened

Can't stand whelan or the club so it's a shame Rosler wasn't kept on and got them relegated to where they belong the lower reaches of league football

Someone, somewhere will hire him. I doubt it'll be Wigan though.

He's had a tough time of late, bullied by Peeters, taken clean out by Johnny Russell and now this.

Whenever the name Wigan is mentioned, I always think of Eddie Waring and his up and under.

They should take a punt on Riga.

The blackpool bollocks could hinder Rigas progress in english football, unfortunately.

Can't stand whelan or the club

Be interested in your reasons why.

IMO, Whelan is pretty unique in the modern game, a football man who played the game, knows the game and loves the game, who has gone away and been successful in business and.put it back into his town and club.

Bet he is a managers dream as a chairman
