The Bah Humbug Thread

Not necessarily for people who don't like Christmas, but for anything you don't like about it.

For me it's the works Christmas meal. Having to pay my own money to sit with people I have to sit with all year, eating over-priced, poorly cooked food whilst some filthy racketeer is coining it in by shoe-horning too many people into their restaurant/bar. Knowing that the only way to get through it is to get well pissed, but also aware that that will make the necessary tongue biting more difficult. The worst one I've had was a few years back at some pizza place inbetween Charing Cross and Covent Garden - it was so packed our table had been set up in the corridor!

  • All the false bonhomie, wait till the new year and the same people will not be speaking to you.
  • A nice Christmassy beer from the Hobgoblin people:-)
  • The ridiculously long build up with shops selling advent calendars in October!
  • I'm dreaming of a_voiding Christmas.

Specially like the ones we used to know which were particularly nauseating.

How did the birth of an influential Jewish religious leader turn into mass retail hysteria?
  • All the crap that goes up in August / September.

One from years ago... Being shouted at by a woman in Sainsburys (where I worked) because we had no turkey's on Xmas Eve... Dont fucking leave it so late you retard!!

How did you choose your user name?
  • Oi Santa where's my @uckin' bike....................................
  • Works Xmas party. Used to love it but getting harder graft the older I get. 100 plus at ours, looked forward to it yet the reality was I weren't really in any of the established teams and was scratching around making occassional small talk and trying not to be too clingy to few I knew relatively well. That awkward moment when you are on your own and look around thinking what group could I latch onto and just keep going "no, no, no..." !

Made a tactical retreat by 8.20 with an improved insight into goose fat and the German property market.
  • Whilst working in China at some point over the xmas perdiod (last year it was xmas eve) all foreign staff would have to dress up like f****** idiots (santa) stand in a busy shopping mall and sing songs.

I won't miss that one little bit.
  • I hate the tv adverts that constantly bleat about having 'a perfect Christmas' or 'the best Christmas ever'! Nothing is perfect and why set people up to feel failures? Can't bear to watch the nauseating stuff (especially Peter Andre and Iceland - yeah, he really shops there!).

  • The endless adverts.
Nothing else has smashed Christmas like the capitalist dogs brainwashing the masses for their own profit.
Hang em all, starting with Peter Andre

    Always had that coming!
  • I absolutely dread the works Christmas drinks/party/team meeting/lunch/end of year back patting. We normally have at least 2 of these in December.
All I want is to go to the pub on the last day and have too many drinks with a select few who I can have a conversation with.
So this year I'm doing my own thing and giving it a miss, apart from the last day drinks.
  • Used to love works parties back in the 1980s- your one chance to put your tongue down the throat of your favorite co-worker...

These days they're very straight and boring.
  • Christmas special tv shows. It seems every show can have a crap Christmas theme
  • If they bring out a Miranda Christmas Special I will not be responsible for my actions...

I think there are plenty of gay and interesting people around, Saga!

  • Christmas cards, what a load of bollox......I just spent £6 on second class stamps, grrr
  • If they bring out a Miranda Christmas Special I will not be responsible for my actions...

Calm down, fella - take deep breaths.

The first half-hour episode will air on Christmas Day at 7:15pm on BBC1 and the final ever instalment of Miranda will be shown at 8:00pm on New Year's Day.
  • Well at least its a good start to the New Year.
  • Decorations all going up on 1st December and sometimes before - why must Christmas last for over a month?
  • My mother in law comes round christmas eve. She then insists we watch the rubbish Spanish TV serve up. That's what happens whe you live in a country where they're more worried about going to church than watching a Bond movie. You need to keep the religious aspects of Christmas to a mínimum. That's not what it's about.
  • No Christmas bonus this year as the company is barely scraping a profit. It's not as if I deserve one but I reserve the right to feel entitled.

You've been there I can tell - don't try and deny it now!
