Ipswich apparently interested in signing Morgan Fox

  • Arsenal buying Mings and Ipswich buying Fox would be two very poor purchases..

We'll take whatever you offer, Ipswich.. I think the scout has either just watched one period (earlier stages) of a match, or has pulled a name out a hat.
  • I think Morgan deserves a bit of time. Ipswich are pretty shrewd when it comes to developing full-backs. A Hammers fan next door reckons Cresswell is one of the best things to happen to West Ham this season next to Jenkinson's progress and Song. So if Mings - he looked raw but very promising at The Valley game though possibly more as a future centre back - goes to Arsenal in January from Ipswich, as widely touted, Ipswich will be on the look-out for a good replacement and could do worse than Morgan. Let's get behind our young talent, it looks like our main option for improvement in the absence of a fairy godmother with loadsamoney.

    Corrected for you
  • Dick watches a lot of our youngsters and I believe offers a fair assessment, however if he is good enough to break through I believe he should be given the opportunity to fuck up from time to time and develop as a player, you can't judge anyone in their first real full season as a first team player especially a defensive player

    Don't sell

It won't be very loyal of him if he buggers off already when we have made him the player he is. Boooooo. Judus.

Actually, i guess that only counts if they go to a prem club :D

Only counts if they leave on a free and we have to go to tribunal to get a nominal fee for them because they turned down our offers. He's in contract, our choice.

I don't know. I think you can often tell from the first few games whether a player has that certain something that makes them stand out. It's the movement across the grass, the amount of time they seem to have on the ball, the decision making. Of course they will make mistakes, but it's the things they do right that stand out for me.
Comparing Gomez and Fox on Saturday, Gomez was so much more athletic than Fox, he looked a more natural footballer.
  • I thought parker would never make a player, off he Went on loan came back a super star

    You can't tell imo

Along with Harriott, Wilson, Pope, Buyens and Tucudean. Have I missed anyone?

Gomez will goon to play at a high PL standard. I would love 11 players of his calibre, but then we would be in the PL. To be top end Champ you need a mix of future PL players and other solid players to compliment.

Fox is decent enough as a Champ stand by for a club on a budget and has half a chance given his age of becoming something better. If Ipswich offer us a meaningful amount and we can invest that in a striker/winger where we really are short then fair enough. If we sell for peanuts or for RD to take some cash back out then I say hold on to him for another 12-24 months and see if he pushes on. He is a CB by trade I believe and they often come through later.

Ha. Bloke behind me after 2 mins when the ball was passed to Fox said 'don't give it to him, completely useless'. Then in the 85th minute he said 'Fox is a decent player, I've got a lot of time for him'. Nothing in between. Odd!

Thats very true. The main reason why I don't think there's any truth in the story.

Ipswich are above us with a realistic chance of promotion. the idea that they would pursue Fox as a replacement for Mings is laughable. Mings is pacey and offers a threat going forward, whereas Fox is slow and offers little threat.

Obviously I don't, but I've seen a large number of youth/academy players come through over the last 25 years, and can look back on whether my initial judgements on them were accurate or not. We've had a lot of home grown left backs down the years, Minto, Barness, Sturgess, Stuart, Konchesky, Basey and now Fox so I've got a fair number of youngsters to compare him with.

Ipswich Town are weighing up a move for Charlton Athletic defender Morgan Fox.
The Tractor Boys want cover as they brace themselves for offers from Arsenal and Chelsea for £10m-rated Tyrone Mings.
Fox, 21, a Wales Under 21 defender, has progressed through the ranks at The Valley, was on loan at Notts County last year and has made 15 appearances for Charlton this season.

Tyrone Mings is the best young prospect in the Championship. i could see past a couple of mistakes at the valley to see a really classes player. tall enough to be a centre back, he just glides over the ground.(Just like joe Gomez).

He could end up a mid-field player. Ipswich will struggle to hold on to him in Jan.

Can't see how the fox story is true. reserve full back who is struggling to establish himself at a club lower down the table ?
