Alcorcón v Real Betis

This weekend will be Alcorcón's biggest home game of the season, against fallen giants Betis who were relegated last season.

This week ex-manager Pepe Mel returned to Betis after his sacking last season and spell at West Brom. Over 7000 Betis fans came to his first training session, nearly three times as much as Alcorcón's average attendance!

Comments

  • Watching it on tv here at 18.15 and will post score for anyone who is interested.
  • Nil nil at half time. Pretty physical game so far but some decent quality as well. Looks like first full house at the Santo Domingo stadium this season, with a large amount of Betis fans in attendance.
  • Have you spotted Roly in the crowd?
  • No sign of him on the TV!
  • Finished nil nil. Second half was pretty grim viewing, full of fouls, dives and imaginary card waving from players: all the worst excesses of Spanish football. Both teams ended up with ten men, Alcorcón had seven booked and Betis six. Alcorcón will stay in 9th place but still within reach of the playoffs.

Still, an almost full house and a bit of TV money not a bad weekend for RD. Betis are a huge team at this level who broke the world transfer record less than 20 years ago. Even with RD's investment, Alcorcón should really be nowhere near them.

Will keep an eye on how Alcorcón move this week. Perhaps a couple of signings in the transfer window and they could keep pushing for the playoffs.

Denilson was the transfer record if I remember correctly?
