logistics for the blackburn flights

i seem to recall in the programme on saturday it said flights would be 9.45 and 10.30 (i think)...assuming 50 mins flight time, half hour to get through, 50 mins to blackburn....that means the first flight could be in the pub by 12pm...

I don't know what time they arrive etc, but it's looking as if i may have a spare Flight ticket, could sort out a decent price. Anyone interested whisper, cheers.

is it that easy to just change a name on a flight? what about the insurance implications there? think you better speak to the club!

i'm having a race with 1905, as i believe the coach back to charlton will beat 1905 and the hat back to bexleyheath on the plane. if you allow for any delays, check in, taxi-ing, passport check, walking to cab/station, travelling by car/train to bexleyheath, i reckon us coachers could beat them. :-)

you may well end up beating them if their plane goes tech but, while you're stuck on the coach for your journey, if they're delayed, they'll be able to get a drink and something to eat and probably no one stage of their actual journeying will be longer than 50 mins...

You have no chance. The coach will take hours! Plus remember you have 5000 West ham fans coming back from Wigan on the same roads.

The coach people got home quicker than the plane for Boro...

...those going to Dartford did anyway.

i'm still up for the challenge.

its a dry plane, they can't drink on the coach back to the airport etc, and they could get stuck in traffic of anything themselves, or traffic back from gatwick to bex heath.

its not about drinking/eating, its about time! i'm taking a packed lunch with me!

We will win Suze. Although I fear that the whole day could be a bit deperate on the booze front..........

you could set up a bow jolly type race...first one back to the pub with a bottle of beer from a blackburn hostelry wins...

You almost seem to be wishing some misfortune on us plane travellers Suzi - surely not?

Even if it involves hanging around in departure lounges for ages then it's still worth it for me - there's a bar in the departure lounge!

nope, i was weighing up the benefits of flying = coach, and every time i fly somewhere, travelling seems to take up the whole day, getting to airport, checking in, waiting in lounges etc. at least once we're on the coach, we're there and ready to rock and roll.

once you get to gatwick, thats not home is it, it'd take me another hour at least and £30 to get home from gatwick if was getting the plane.

and 1905 was in the pub at the weekend looking really pleased with himself, so i thought i'd challenge him to a race :-) i wish those travelling by plane, car, coach no harm!

*1905 leans back and remembers the days when he able, and allowed, to drink past 10pm*

The hanging about might take longer, but the actual travelling time is nothing in comparrison.

The thought of sitting on a coach for however many hours with no legroom, the constant drone of the engine and the unmistakeable smell of vom where some scroat has smuggled on some booze and honked up at the back just does not appeal - free or not!

Good luck to you all who are braving it. I'll keep a look out for you as we fly overhead and will gladly get a pint in ready for anyone I know who's coming by coach. Might be a bit warm by the time you get there mind you.

i can still remember dashing off the coach back from that cup match at old trafford and running around the corner to catch last orders in the watermans...

if they weren't doing planes, how would you get there.

some people are travel snobs i think :-)

    I'd get the train.

Not a snob, just can't abide coach travel. It's just so boring it's untrue. Sitting on your arse for 5 hours solid is no fun - reminds me of work!

Do you drive coaches for work?

Of course I do, but I think you've met at least some of them before, so surely there's no mystery behind why I'm so keen to spend as little time as possible stuck sitting next to them - or if I am, then at least in a bar/pub so I can numb the pain!
    ;o)

I'm getting the plane, I only live up the road from Gatwick :-)
If I wear a "I'm NorthStandLower" badge, will other peeps say hello to me, cos I know no-one :-)

From Charlton Station via London Bridge to Gatwick costs less then £15 return and takes less than/around an hour (I work at Gatwick occasionally) and do it often.
