  • Agreed. Comfortably our best centre-half. Love the way he brings the ball out of defence, a genuinely good footballer as well as a battler and a trier. Big fan.

Bikey on the other hand looks to be regressing to me. I'm even less convinced now that he's a better player than Morrison.

Along with Bikey without them we would be conceding a lot more.
  • The one actual success from another network club, really like him as a player but im worried he wont be offered a contract extension by Roland considering his age.

We will probably replace him in the summer with a 18 year old from Bulgaria who is the next big thing....................

Solid in defence and played some super through-balls. If only we had some players with the guile to get on the end of them.

Given his level of performance this season, I doubt he'll be short of offers and I fear we'll lose him.
  • It would be handy if he signs a one year extension. Perhaps that depends upon prospects and who the head coach is for 2015-16?

Put him, Solly, Bikey, Wiggins, Henderson and Gomez in the squad and that's a solid back five. If the club can improve the midfield then we should move up a level.
  • I find it a little concerning that the best passer of the ball we have at the club is a centre back, not a midfielder...

My concern is more a case of whether he'd want to stay.

Let's see how a few wins and some confidence rebuild affect things.
The sooner the better but Tony Watt looked exciting so when he's match fit I can see the wins returning.

Think that pretty much sums up how I feel, too.

agree he was one of our best players but don't forget he was outjumped by their goalscorer for the goal.

Yes but he is significantly shorter than Ince. I would question why Bikey was not marking him.

Would like to see TBH played alongside Gomez at centre half.

But outjumped/tackled the same player plenty of other times, in fairness. His only real mistake in the game cost us dearly, which is unfortunate, but he is still by far the best centreback we've had for a long time - better than Bikey by some distance, just a lot more professional/understated about how he plays.

Quite simply you can tell this man has played at a higher standard. We are lucky to have him but I can sense his frustration at the moment

Different class played the game at the highest level and it shows. Without him we would get murdered most weeks

I'd say Bikeys needless foul to give away the free kick cost us just as dearly.
As you say, TBH is by far our best centreback.

Did Bikey need to put a foot in? I think not

A clearly well rehearsed set piece by Brighton and just our luck that it was the perfect free kick, right weight on the ball, right depth, length, height - God it makes me sick!

The free kick should never have been given away in the first place, as others have pointed out.

TBH so far getting my vote for player of the year. May have been outjumped for the goal yesterday but the keeper comes for it and then let's it go past for a free header.

Brighton had a corner in the first half and Ince came into the box and he was such a big bloke I watched him particularly and was amazed to see TBH up against him whilst Bikey picked up a much shorter player. I am no expert but I picked up on this. Big Bob didn't. It's not rocket science.

This. My player of the year so far and not at fault for the goal.

And Charlton life have sponsored him as we needed to replace Morrison.
  • Earlier on in the season I had wondered about playing Morrison and Bikey at CB, and moving TBH slightly forward into midfield, where he can make his runs forward without leaving a hole in the defence

Doubt a player of TBH experience would be too impressed being asked to move positions, especially at his age. But I have no doubts he would not do it. A great individual to have in the side. Player of the year thus far.

I would say not (assuming Onyewu swapped in hypothetically) simply on the basis that without him in defence we'd be back to last season's issue of defence and midfield being essentially isolated from each other and momentum being lost. Quite apart from which, even when he ventures forwards, he very rarely loses the ball so the gap he's left is generally immaterial, and he's back in time to cover.

he's different gravy - it's funny how when we signed TBH, there was a general feeling on here that he would most likely be just back-up....well so far he seems to be the best signing of the season!
