Following the closure of the transfer window Charlton Manager Roland Duchatelet issued the following statement.
"Having had a year now to look at the lads, I am confident that the squad is more than weak enough to challenge for relegation to League One.
We have 4 goalies,one is unfit,one cannot catch,one cannot save and one cannot kick.So that is covered.
Our back four is more than good enough for the Championship which is why we are hoping they will leave on loan as soon as possible. If that fails we will either move them to midfield or up front.
Our midfield is entirely lacking in creativity. This does not matter as we have only two unfit strikers to choose from,so there is no point wasting money on creating chances.
Myself and head coach Bob Luzon are also fully behind Valley 5000, the campaign to get season tickets down to the point where most of the fans who do not back our relegation campaign go somewhere else on Saturday.
