  • Airman- the point I was trying to make is that you are the enemy of pretty much everybody - Razil has his fair share of knockers and Reams was one. Didn't mean to imply you were all enemies of each other - but ITTV and CL has a rivalry and you get knocked by many people who don't know or care not to remember their history. We need people like you and other leaders at this time. You know how it is done for one thing. You even wrote the book about it!

Pretty much everybody? Are you sure?

  • lol and their dogs - very unfair and disrespectful but it certainly feels like it sometimes.

What a load of bollocks !
  • Anyway, Rudders come back dear chap. We're going to beat Norwich on Tuesday.
  • All these "See ya" merchants don't get that die hard are walking away...no doubt they are season ticket holders for Charlton away games.

I just posted Ok, cheerio then saw this. As our own AFKA can testify I was a very regular away traveller for many, many, many years. I had an away season ticket for the years when the Club sold them. I've been up at 6am to get a coach to Boro or Newcastle etc. I left work early to get to Birmingham for the play off replay, went to Preston when our Burnley match was cancelled, saw our disgraceful defeat at Northwich, hell I was stil going away games when Parky was taking us into oblivion. You get the picture. I'm Charlton till I die. I support the team, not the owner, the CEO etc. I will be getting a season ticket next year too. If you don't want to get one then fair enough but why feel the need to tell us all? I'm saddened people feel this way but I will continue to support the team. If I could go to Sellout week in week out then the current situation is a piece of piss.
Glad you got that off your chest..but either you feel the need to tell how great you are in which certain people will testify how long I have been going, week in week out for years as well as the four generations of my family..what does cheese me off about this site is the muggy comments make on here which has no relevance to the subject whatsoever..Personally I thought this was a fans forum not an audition for wanna be comics or left wingers. Finally what people are missing is that under this ownership things will continue to stay the same or get worse. The owners don't get the English game, the managers are sub standard and the players are not used to this level of football let alone good enough.
Can any decent left wingers please bring your boots on Tuesday.
  • @Rudders22 - get down the ABC on 18th!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Oh come on please
  • Pardew Era killed it for me, Ive never had the desire to go since Blackburn awau tbh (although I done two more season).

Although I have been multiple times since including away games I know how the fella feels.

I rarely missed a game from 1983 until then, but instead of it being a way of life CAFC became something I couldn't devote every weekend to.

When the 3 year old wants to go I will give him the same opportunity as my 19 year old who had a season ticket for 12 years who now rarely knows who we are playing let alone the score on a Saturday night.

We've gone in to 3/1 for relegation from typically 5's last week without any diff in points from last week

We dropped a position in the table. Not surprising the odds changed.

Plus my £20 bet will have caused shockwaves in the betting world.
  • I'm with Dick Plumb. Decided as soon as Roland took over it was wrong. So no season ticket and sat in cheapest seats so didn't put money in his pocket. Now next stage not going at all because it is not fun, there is no link with the team and like Selhurst the lower the crowd the more likely change. New owners is only solution. Relegation may help that too.
  • There, now you've said it all and I regret on behalf of a number of contributors here.
"Decided as soon as Roland took over..." So not exactly open minded and to prove your point you would like Charlton relegated! Your view is more important than the club's success> Thanks

Because I guessed from day 1 what his network was and he proved it at Sheffield. Relegation will reduce club value and make him more likely to sell so beneficial to long term success. Think.
  • Obvious but wrong. Do you think it's that easy to find buyers for a football club in the present (failing) market? You think twice before blinding down that road
  • think Kinsella

but think for yourself don't be told what to think by anyone

Because you are right first time anyway
  • Come on Mr Rudd you ve got Charlton blood running through your veins. Get a grip man.
We ve been through much worse in the past. At least we re solvent now.

  • Like you though Stig, I am intrigued as to what it was about today that was the last straw for Rudders. Not sure anyone was really expecting a result so was the performance that bad? Or was it the formation and use of subs that did it?

Perhaps it was because half the team and the manager did not bother to acknowledge the travelling support?
  • Totally see where dick plumb and kentred2 and co are coming from
From day one I've not liked the idea or felt happy with our new owner and not even the emperors new clothing wins with 35% possession and bore draws were gonna convince me all was ok at our club

As someone who lives , breaths and sleeps Charlton it is so disheartening to see the lack of passion on the pitch and basically the heart of the team being drawn out of them with the whole set up , at our club
And by that I mean managers and players coming in and out of a revolving door

I know for a fact Curbishley genuinely wanted to assist the new fella in a director of football role or something similar and the clowns in charge of our club chose not to go that route

Of course we are all grateful for the steadying hand ,financially , Roland initially placed on our club but the footballing side to us has been badly mismanaged from Duchatelet towers from day one

I'll be buying season tickets for my family next season but thats more out of habit and brainwashing the kids than wanting to give our owner any backing whatsoever

Each to their own I say boycott , I understand , going like me I understand

Who knows what the alternative , type of owner , would be like but I'll be honest I'd be happy for us to take our chances with someone else because I really have never felt this out of love with my team ever and I've been going since 1976 and a season ticket holder since 1984

I have found myself agreeing with you far to much for my likely over the last year or so. I am pretty worried I will next start knowing away day numbers without looking soon.

In all seriousness know you have written exactly how I am feeling.
  • I wasn't anti Roland/network from the start and thought the idea was interesting so I was prepared to give it a go. The thing that worries me is his complete reliance in the 'network' and it's associated parts. He shows no signs whatsoever of looking 'outside the box' and trying a different approach.
And when non football people take that approach it rings alarm bells.
This is not his natural game as his success within it thus far shows. Whether we like it or not we are a kind of experimental guinea pig. And the odds really are not in our favour.

Must be me then. I'm emotionally and historically stuck with supporting this bloody football club. I'm sure it would be more enjoyable watching Arsenal or Spurs, but I cant. I haven't enjoyed going down there for many years. Standing in the freezing cold with 3000 others in the 70 s was never fun, but it was my club. Travelling the country was bloody miserable as we hardly ever won away games, but it was my club. I envy those who can walk away, good luck to them. I will be there Tuesday night because something inside me will drag me there. I probably won't enjoy it, we will probably lose. However, Tuesday night the only place on this planet I want to be is down the Valley watching 11 millionaires owned by a billionaire kick a ball about badly for 90 minutes. God help us !

Agree with 90% of that Masicat.

If Roland Wouldn't Pay our top goalscorer 12k a week last season, then the only players in our team who have made big money out of the game would be TBH
and maybe Bikey. Even this would of been over a number of years.

    It's fight or flight time,

We need a different type of owner.

There's a lot of name Droppers on CL.........

Next time i bump into Bill Gates?
I know he likes to support lost causes.

Maybe not. But it has been stated that people in the know believe there would be buyers IF the club was available.
  • Point of order.

People are fans whether they still go to games or not.

People are supporters whether they decide to buy tickets/food/whatever or not.

Once an Addick, always an Addick.

and if ALL fans decided not to go anymore there would be no club
