Ah .. thought you had a new one. Electrical problems in a 10 year old car ? .. nothing too unexpected there, probably water/damp getting in somewhere .. good luck in sorting it .... Flasher relay I expect.. or thisDA9 said:Ps.... Always loved the civic, had two, never let me down, no, it's 2004 civic sport

Since I passed my test in '03 I've had three Volkswagen Golf Mk.3's (no not all at once for the smart arses on here) - Needed to get a new car last May because my final Golf was falling to piecesDA9 said:Ps.... Always loved the civic, had two, never let me down, no, it's 2004 civic sport
Realising I couldnt afford one of the better Golf's I decided to go round all the Garages, now there is a running joke at home (Dont know why) with people always suggesting that I buy a Honda with my response always the same "I DONT want a Honda", same thing happened in May but to shut them up I decided to go to the Honda garage... Within minutes of arriving saw a lovely 08 Honda Civic, took it for test drive and absolutely loved it and havent regretted it since lol!1 -
Indicators are intermittent, as in keep going on & off?
Are you taking the piss?.............9 -
Thanks Lincs, If it was damp, why would they work on the hazard button?Lincsaddick said:

Car is 10 year old, it was the mother in laws, she only put 40k on the clock from new, perfect condition, flys through its MOT, but then again electrics do erode I suppose.0

now THAT .. might be the question .. ask a sparks to stick his voltmeter on the various wiring .. he'll have an answer in two minutes .. you say the problem only occurs when the car is moving ? .. so 'motion' is the problem .. loose wiring, damp wiring, bad connections, whatever .. that'll be £50 please ((:>)DA9 said:

I've got a 12 yr old CRV (which I love by the way) and I've just had to spend £200, as the central locking on the back door refused to unlock. Wear & tear sucks...........2

I did turn the engine on and try them when stationary, still intermittent, looks like a Sparks is the answer, I assume the hazard button and indicator arm work off different circuits, hence why one works and they other doesn't, cheers lincs.Lincsaddick said:

Drivers window mechanism went before Xmas, that cost us nearly £100, and 3 door parts are hard to findtangoflash said:I've got a 12 yr old CRV (which I love by the way) and I've just had to spend £200, as the central locking on the back door refused to unlock. Wear & tear sucks...........

The main reason I went for the CRV was so I could put the dogs in the back, without getting mud all over the upholstery, so pissed me off when the door refused to open. The big problem is there's no key or interior handle to use as a back up. Buggered if I know how the mechanic managed to get it open, but it was better than the crowbar method I was contemplating.........1

Had a CRV, loved it although not very quick.
Get yourself a Ralliart. :-:
El, I'd have thought you'd be driving a gold Caddy convertable by now.1 -
Agree with the others, swap the flasher relay.2

Had a weird phone call from the local Honda dealer yesterday.
He said "Good Morning Mr cafcfan (don't know how he knew that was my name!), this is just a courtesy call to find out how you are getting on with your Honda Jazz."
Well, I said, not very well, as I don't have one. I did pop in to look at a CR-V four years ago but I didn't buy one. Hope someone hasn't nicked my identity and bought a car - I'm waiting for all the speeding tickets and parking fines to start dropping on the door mat ...
BTW, however good it was, I couldn't own a car which sounds like it was named after a town hall.0 -

I've driven the two Civic's that my parents bought. They had one of the new shape Type Rs when it first came out. Definitely a case of speed over comfort. Then they replaced it with a top of the range executive model which is like driving a sofa its so comfortable. Not great fuel consumption though but its a nice drive.
We did have another version with flappy gear paddles on the steering wheel which was a courtesy car with a fairly naff semi-automatic gear box. You'd change gear and sometimes it could take 2-3 seconds to change up/down and it was a proper pain in the bum. Put me right off.0 -
I've just noticed that they seem to want to "warm up" before they start working, I only knew about the intermittent part from the Mrs, drove the car myself last two days and noticed that once the engine starts the hazard and indicator arms don't work, then start again after a few minutes driving.0

Shamless self promotion - I work for Honda if anyone wants to buy one!!

cafcfred4 when does the flash new Jazz come out?0
-
Not confirmed yet but summer time! Along with the new HRV.0

Don't turn left or right for the first few minutes of any journey and you'll be fine. Buying a house in a long straight road will helpDA9 said:I've just noticed that they seem to want to "warm up" before they start working, I only knew about the intermittent part from the Mrs, drove the car myself last two days and noticed that once the engine starts the hazard and indicator arms don't work, then start again after a few minutes driving.

Thing is no one uses their indicators anymore anyway... they're simply there as an accessory on a car now0
-
Move to Bexhill nobody uses them there, sounds like a relay problem had the same with a peugot.Remember years ago driving around Lewisham area for a day when my indictators packed up on an old escort lots of interesting hand signals from people that day0
