Running compression tights

Personally use skins. About 50/60£ but work a treat.0

TribeSports running tights are decent and reasonably priced. May not be as "compression" as you are looking for, if that makes sense.0

beats me why anyone, apart from Robin Hood, wants to run in tights.
What's wrong with normal shorts for a tenner??1 -
Same here, very decent and last a long time.bexleycafc said:Personally use skins. About 50/60£ but work a treat.

About five years ago I would have totally agreed with you.Salad said:beats me why anyone, apart from Robin Hood, wants to run in tights.

I'm now getting old though and after two pulled calf muscles (not at the same time) and a torn hamstring, I swear by them in this cold weather.
I'd rather look like a tart in tights than go through the pain of another injury.2 -
I've got a pair of Skins but I prefer my Under Armour tights.
When I turn up to run club on a Wednesday night, everyone under the age of 40 is wearing tights, all the old 'uns are wearing their shorts no matter how cold it is. Bloody nutters lol.Salad said:beats me why anyone, apart from Robin Hood, wants to run in tights.

Sub base layer are really good, lasted much longer than my Nike equivalent did.WayneK said:A mate has recommended SUB but they seem a bit cheap. Thoughts runners?
However I am only just returning to wearing tights now as injuries are cropping up again.
Skins are the best but are priced as such.0 -
Don't run fast without warming up (i.e. run slower) for at least 10 minutes, that significantly reduces the risk of pulled muscles.
Is there any evidence that tights prevent pulled muscles?

Do the older guys seem to pull up with injuries more often than the younger, tight wearers?JohnBoyUK said:I've got a pair of Skins but I prefer my Under Armour tights.

I've never seen a study that suggests they do. I just wear ronhill tracksters to keep my muscles warm, normally just for warmupsSalad said:

there was however a meta analysis published in the bmj and other places last year that suggests compression clothing post exercise aids recovery and reduces doms though not hugely

Three of them are still running after heart by-pass ops, so they're definitely well versed in manning up. They will still be wearing shorts at sub zero!cafcdave123 said:

The old school are definitely a damn sight harder than us young 'uns. Christ, I dont think about wearing shorts for running until the temperature hits double figures!
Tbh, I'm not convinced compression actually helps against injuries. It makes my legs feel good so have stuck with them.

that I can see, since the compression will aid circulation ... but preventing pulled muscles? Let's say I remain rather sceptical.rina said:

PS I ran in shorts in sub-zero temperatures first thing this morning, luckily no pulled muscles ;-)
