Chris Eagles Man Utd Reserves 2005

I remember Chris Eagles featuring in this match at The Valley for Man Utd. He was one of the standout players that night along with Giuseppe Rossi.

Just for interest I have looked to find the teams but can't find a list anywhere on the web.

Anyone have them?

  • What United would do for Pique now.
  • What a Manchester United side still...

Tom Heaton: Now Goalkeeper for Burnley
Gerard Pique: Barcelona defender with a huge trophy cabinet
Paul McShane: Defender for Hull City
David Fox: Now at Colchester but used to be with Norwich in the Prem
David Jones: Premier League experience with Wigan
Fraizer Campbell: Striker having played for a few Premier League clubs
Guiseppe Rossi: Italian Striker who is with Fiorentina and countless caps for his country
  • Was that a certain Lawrie Wilson playing right back for us?
  • My pal Phillips on the bench for us
  • Lee Martin as well I presume

I doubt it, he left manure in 1997.
Interesting to see the comments gravitating to the manure side.
We had quite a few ex England youth players in that side. Sadley they never made it.
    2 cracking goalies though.
  • It will indeed be the Lee Martin we had, of Peterborough away fame.

Overwhelmingly the most striking thing about this thread is the realisation that the number of home supporters for full first team matches today has almost dropped to a level which our reserve team could attract a decade ago.

1997? He would have been about 10!

On that Man Utd team I forgot David Bellion even existed.
  • Was at this game - agree Eagles was quality in that match.

  • there was another lee martin before the one we had scoham, who also played for man u with giggsy etc in the 90s.
  • the other Lee Martin scored a significant goal for Charlton fans for Man Utd in a Cup Final in 1990 !

With Phil Bardsley on the bench too - over 200 PL appearances to his name.
  • Stacey Long is at Leatherhead I believe.

So it was 7 v 11 and we still couldn't beat them.

Who was the manager back then? I want him OUT!

  • Long chat with a Wendy at work.
He says they are looking over their shoulders nervously expecting to be in the mix for the last relegation place - and he isn't a typically negative fan.
He is absolutely gutted they didn't go in for Eagles.
their much lauded takeover is stalling and they have a dozen bits of deadwood to clear out.

Interesting to hear how amazed he has been with our signings.

Just checked out Owlstalk, hadn't realised they were on this bad run ...they sound very worried on there, seeing the millwall game tomorrow as a must-win.

Isn't David Jones playing for Burnley in the Prem at the moment?

Guiseppe Rossi has 30 caps for his country, which considering his extensive injury problems is a decent amount

Fingers crossed! A terrible run and they can't score goals...but 9 points ahead of Millwall, so still a big gap
  • Alex Ferguson wouldn't have been happy that they'd nicked his hubcap....picked up the local habits at a young age
