Stephen Ireland's Injury yesterday

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/11442852/Revealed-Stephen-Irelands-gruesome-injury-after-horror-tackle-by-Maynor-Figueroa.html

Matic last week, Ireland this week - yet these major, career-threatening tackles are being missed all too often.

Seems odd that so many petty or soft fouls being given yet these are being missed.

  • Ireland also committed a naughty challenge earlier in the game that could have resulted in a red card.

All the more reason to stamp out 'pay back' fouls if they are to be this serious.

  • Barely a scratch
  • Bloke got the ball. Was just natural follow through.....
  • Bladed boots are causing injuries luke this week in week out, wouldn't be surprised to see the boot was a blade stud combo

I thought the same, however if you look at the photo of the challenge on Ireland, it seems the player has studs, all be it aluminium ones.
  • Could have ended the lad's career - has to be stopped because someone will get really hurt soon.

I will never forget the Eduardo broken leg in the Arsenal v Birmingham game in 2008 and, although not a violent challenge, the David Busst broken leg againt Man Utd which did end his career and was so graphic that Schmeichel actually chucked up after seeing the wound.
  • Looks like it might sting a bit, that.
