Received the following e-mail, thought it may be of interest to some.

Hi festival friends

Here at festival HQ we are busy fundraising to make this year’s festival happen and we need your help to keep it free and open to all in 2015 and in future years.

Nearly all of our events are free and that means that everyone from all walks of life can access cultural activities in their own community – a really important value that we feel very passionate about. Creativity and culture via our wonderful festival brings us together and make us stronger as a community.

The festival has grown every year and the funding needed to put it on has also increased hence our campaign – see the estimated budget for the 2015 festival.

We need to raise £19,000 – 40% of what is needed to put on the festival.

There are over 3,000 people receiving this email newsletter so if all of you donated just £6 then we would be at our target!!

“Brings everyone together. Gives a sense of feeling proud to come from such an amazing area. Where local people work together to build an event for all”

We hope you can help us succeed in reaching our target – please give what you can.

Deadlines deadlines
March is upon us and deadlines are rushing up to meet us – such is the life of a festival organiser!

Please don’t forget the following and apply now through our website on the Sponsor and Take part pages:
band applications closing 31 March 2015
stalls applications closing 31 March 2015
book advertising space by 31 March 2015 and submit your artwork before 25 April
submit your event for the festival guide and website by 31 March 2015.

Volunteering makes you happier
Finally we are looking for volunteers to recruit more volunteers! Over 200 local people help make the festival happen each year. Are you passionate about recruitment, volunteering and community? Then please do get in touch if you would like to join our volunteer management team at info@crystalpalacefestival.org

“It is just amazing, this year was my first volunteering. It was brilliant, I never realised before the amount of work behind the festival - I am proud to be part of it.”

Many thanks for your support and help – together we can make the festival happen in 2015!

Kind regards

I love the festival they put on in Westow Park. Great afternoon for the kids and there's plenty of choices if you fancy a couple of drinks too.

I work in crystal palace, gotta say there's quite a few hipsters moving into the area. Some bars and restaurants popping up as well. Should be a decent festival.

    Received this earlier....

    Hi festival friends,

We are pretty happy today as the festival just got Big Lottery funding from Awards for All which means our fundraising target has gone down a lot! We have been awarded £9,850 – and that goes a long way to funding the 2015 event.

Between the Lottery funding, some event management costs being covered by new volunteers and your amazing donations, we have just 9.5% or £4,000 to raise! Please see the updated estimated budget for the 2015 festival.

    Application deadlines
In other news, our programming, stalls and bands applications deadlines have passed so the team are busy putting together the programme of 2015 events to send to our designers for the festival guide. It’s all taking shape and now become more real every day.

    Volunteering for the 2015 festival
The volunteer recruitment team are also getting busy with planning for lots of stalls, flyers and posters to ensure that we have enough volunteers during 24 – 28 June to steward and ensure the festival is safe for all.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering for just 4 hours during the event then please visit our website at to find out more and register for a shift.

Giving something back to your community is very satisfying as all our volunteers tell us - it’s proven way of being a happier person!

    Fundraising events coming up include:

Meditation Sound Bath at Bamboo Fitness on 19 April at 7pm
Tickets are limited and just £10 for this unique meditation experience that uses ancient instruments to help release stress and make you feel more energised, happier and uplifted. What more could you ask for?

Please email mwahpop@gmail.com with sound bath in the subject line to grab your ticket now. More information on Facebook.

Mo-City returns as a festival fundraiser on Saturday 16 May!
You can get down to DJ Phil de Mont, Daphnea and Lee Van Cleef at the Crow’s Nest just off Westow Hill with the best of soul, hip hop and their trade mark deep house sounds from Detroit, Chicago and beyond. Donations for the festival welcome.

So we now just need to raise £4,000 – and lots of people from our lovely community are helping us do it. If you can donate then please give what you can here:

Many thanks for your support and help – together we can make the festival happen in 2015!

    Big love and thanks
A very excited Crystal Palace Overground Festival team

One of my mates lives there and he's a total stoner if that helps?

Are MFC, BHAFC and CAFC mobbing up together for this one?
