Quality of the Pitch

Has to highlighted.
Sitting in the NU tonight Looking down I genuinely thought I was looking at a computer graphic rather than a pitch.
Counts for nothing if you haven't got a decent team to play on it, but I seriously don't think I've seen a better pitch than the one we currently have.

Amazingly lush, normally in the summer (even in normal years) it needs resowing, whereas it looks like we could play another season on it straight away!AFKABartram said:Has to highlighted.

Quality surface. Just a shame that the commercial manager had to highlight it with a pseudo sex act on it. The pitch should sell itself at the end of the season for pitch hire. No need for tacky gimmicks.1

Thank you, Mr. Duchatalet.
Sorry, will I be flagged for that?12 -
The pitch looked incredible for this stage of the season, compared to the pitch last season it's like a different football club.0

Credit where is due. This current owner has done what was needed to the playing surface that was neglected for years. Strange really, when you think of it, we were quite content, even in the Premier years, to compromise on the quality of the basics.
Must be the best if not second best pitch in the league.1 -
I would do unspeakable things to play on that pitch. It's bloody beautiful!

Too late, people have already done that....NomadicAddick said:I would do unspeakable things to play on that pitch. It's bloody beautiful!

the pitch is actually looking better since the porn took place on it.5

The Groundsman (I think his name is Nathan) is up for an award I was told last night.3
-
I know it's the same for both teams but I feel the pitch has been worth a few points for us this season, well at least compared to last. A crap pitch has not helped Blackpool, Wigan or Millwall.0

The way it was cut I thought there were crop circles on it yesterday.Brendan_O_Connell said:The Groundsman (I think his name is Nathan) is up for an award I was told last night.

My dad is one of those working on the memorial garden and got to know Paddy (as groundsman not player) and the others in that capacity and he always said it was a team effort. Paddy was very good but he had some good people around him and I think he'd be very pleased indeed to see a pitch that looks so good - perhaps wishing he'd had a chance to work on it himself (in either capacity!)1

Makes a big difference to the style of football than can be played, and it looked like a carpet last night. It had to be done, of course, but it's been done very well indeed.0

Bournemouth will love it for the last match of the season2

Glad I don't have to waste my time watching grass grow over the summer - and online at that!

Yann could be promotion bound at The Valley again!0

I thought I spotted a wormcast from upper west. In all seriousness it looks just as pristine as it did for the 1st game of the season. Dear old Maurice Banham will be looking down & thinking yeh not bad.3

From that article, which has today's date on it:
"A torrid season has seen Charlton Athletic battling to avoid relegation and playing their home games on a pitch that was almost constantly waterlogged."
- I don't know, I look back on this season with slightly more positivity...1 -
The Secret Footballer slagged off the pitch recently and a few people put him right on Twitter. Supports the idea that it's Dave Kitson, as he tweeted a picture of it when he played for Oxford in the 2-2 last year.0

It looks to me that there will be no need for seeding, or any repairs.
Just a quick run over with a rotavator, and a few cuts over the summer months.
Might as well sack the groundsman!1 -

Hell of a change in 12 months!4 -
Good stuff. It really has been a carpet all season.0

Hope Nathan gets the award but can't help feeling sorry for Paddy Powell. He worked his nuts off trying to keep that mud heap playable in the past few seasons and deserved the chance to enjoy looking after a top quality pitch before he retired.8

Compared to last season it's almost like having a new pitch.3
