Blackpool - yes us again

Afternoon all. I am sure many of you will be aware of the shipwreck that is BFC these days. Sadly this has sunk to its latest low in that millionaire Oyston has sued a 67 year old fan for £20k for comments made on Facebook (he had 36 "friends" at the time). We have set up a fund to help at http://www.gofundme.com/s5bbb8r
We are spreading this across as many other teams sites and anything that you can contribute would be appreciated.

All the best

  • Good luck mate.

Out of interest, are your fans voting with their feet considering a mass non-renewal for next year? Saw a lot were going to the local non-league side instead for a game recently?

Neil - Yep, expect gates of around 4k tops. A few are still locked in to a 2 year ST deal but even then are walking away. 500 plus went to see AFC Blackpool a few weeks rather than Leeds (Understandable anyway)
  • Hi

I saw this today, and would be ready to chip in, but just wondered how it will work. Might not it encourage Oyston to go ahead with this absurd case if he thinks the poor guy can "afford" it? Oyston certainly sounds like a piece of work who would think that way.

But maybe you guys have thought of that, and have your tactics sorted?
  • Prague, thanks for your interest but its a done deal out of court. Either that or Frank could have gone to court and risked £150k costs. Its one of many such cases, some on going and at least one that may well get to court.
  • So was a factual defamatory statement (as opposed to an expression of opinion as to competence) made about Oyston or not?

If not then this seeming bully needs his bluff called and taking to court himself. In other words £150K rather than £20K should be the target.

Can you elaborate without incriminating either yourself or this forum?
  • Best not Len but thanks for reading.
