In other Henry related news, Ackworth has just announced on CAFC Picks that after extensive research he's discovered that he's related to Henry VIII and he's looking for advice on what to do with all the dosh that's coming his way...
Yep - supposedly this is the BIGGEST day so far of the summer transfer window. This thread should be buzzing today with 100 new posts an hour as news comes in from various sources.
Either that or there will be 10 new posts discussing letters of the alphabet.

Charlton have made an inquiry about James Henry, but no bid and a move is not imminent according to Wolves boss Kenny Jackett, although he didn't rule it out:

That's from after their game Saturday mate , so I'd imagine a lot has changed since then.
I will be astonished if we sign anyone today let alone 4!! I reckon best we will get today is JBG signing a new contract. I hope i'm 100% wrong but I have a hunch I wont be.

Ah fair enough...someones put this up within the last hour and labelled it 'latest news'. I should have known better if its on Twitter!

The centre back shortfall has reached critical now. We need 2 in urgently - and ideally one of them needs to have good experience of English football and ready to get stuck in (if he was fitter, I still would have kept Johnson). Along with the left winger, thats 3 that need to get pushed over the line now. No point getting defenders in 2 days before the season starts when they dont even know each other.
Not a rumour but Bradley Dack from Gillingham is definitely worth a look. Scored a wonder goal last night against Bromley in a friendly and was quality last season, weighing in with 9 goals from midfield.

And apparently we released him as a kid.
I know his mum. Trust me, the way Bradley was treated when he was released means he'd never come back here.
With Church's departure, that does give us one rather large and pressing vacancy to fill: Official CharltonLife Scapegoat (tm). Unless one of our established players is going to man up and take the burden upon himself of course!

Morgan Fox: After bursting on to the scene at the end of the 2013/2014 season, he was thrust back into the first team last year due to consistent injuries to Rhoys Wiggins, for some reason, Bob Peeters couldnt get the best out of Morgan and many felt that during this time the young Left-Back wasnt good enough for Championship Football, the arrival of Guy Luzon saw his confidence rise and another strong end of the season ensured for Morgan Fox, this is certainly an important year for the Academy Graduate... Scapegoat possibility: Very Possible
Callum Harriott: Like with all wingers, Callum's form has always been inconsistent and a shockingly poor performance against Barnsley in 2014 saw the fans turn on him, two hat-tricks against Watford and Blackpool ensured our Championship survival though yet important misses against Sheffield United in the FA Cup and Brentford on the opening day of last season seem to be permanently etched into fans memories, a bid was rejected from Wigan a few weeks ago so it remains to be seen if Callum is here next season... Scapegoat possibility: Almost certainly
Reza Ghoochanniejhad: One of our first signings under the Roland era and with just one goal in seventeen appearances, many fans werent convinced, an impressive World Cup saw the real Reza, before the Iranian became a cult hero by refusing to return to Charlton last season, two successful loan spells in the Middle East last season meant that many fans felt we'd never seen our World Cup goalscorer again, but reports on twitter state that Reza has returned, whether it be long term or short term it remains to be seen: Scapegoat possibility: Almost certainly
Johnnie Jackson: One of the best Captains at the club since Mark Kinsella, with his best years maybe behind him though and with a number of Midfielders coming into the club, will we see Jackson's appearances limited to short cameos (His legs have gone after all) or like a Ryan Giggs type player are we set to see Jackson in his golden years: Scapegoat possibility: No chance
Igor Vetokele: Our marquee signing last year hit the ground running, winning Championship Player of the Month for September, an achilles injured occurred a short time later and we never saw the real Igor again last season, just a handful of goals in his last 20-appearance mean that this too could be a big season for our main hitman: : Scapegoat possibility: Possibly

Think by end of week we may see 4 new signings not sure today , but Gudmunsson should sign his 3 year deal today
'May' and 'should'? You don't fill me with confidence Colin

that's because he doesn't know he just applies the scatter-gun approach and once in a while something will come true and he can be all smug and pretend to be in the know
If JBG signs a new longer term deal then imo thats better than any of the players we've been linked with joining. Goals from midfield and decent future value when sold; I'd be very happy if that's all we had today.
