Forget Dunk then as 4m is way ott. Better value to be had abroad.

Interesting to read the Nancy view of us looking at Lenglet. Look in the transfer window section:

    http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=http://forum.asnl.net/&prev=search
"Charlton English = money = = minimum offer € 8 million for Lenglet"

    Some great quotes about us on that site;

"Charlton, the club of some alou DIARA"

We have a 34 year old filling in at centre back 2 weeks before the season starts which is bordering on farcical when you consider how long we have had to do something about it. Regardless of the work done elsewhere on the squad.

Makes Bikey being frozen out, and Johnson and Ben Haim being let go seem bizarre.

Not to mention Dervite and Morrison.
Dervite was offered 3 year deal which he agreed to but then got a double your money offer from Bolton
Morrison asked to leave to get playing time
He'd be getting loads if he'd stayed !
  • At least the club is not panicking and signing CB's for the sake of it and are trying to sign the right player(s), if not today sure 2 will be signed within a couple of weeks

I can't see us signing established first team regulars from other championship clubs; they cost too much cash

I have thought from the outset that we wouldn't sign Henry. I still think that.

This year's Chris O'Grady, albeit Henry is much better

So whoever comes in, it leaves us needing 2 x CBs (one of which can cover right back as well) and another winger.

Winger isn't as critical as there is a chance Bergdich may play left mid in front of Fox I reckon. But the CBs need to come in before the Bolton game.

To be honest if Bikey is not part of the plans then we probably need three CB's to replace Bikey, TBH, Gomez & Johnson.

With Diarra seemingly thought of as a centre back now I can only see it being 2.

He's not, he's seen as a squad player not a main player

A new signing (I don't know who-but assume it's this centre back Lenglet) is expected to be unveiled at the friendly tomorrow

I could not make the game, who was the new player?:-)

Can believe that. SLP did report something aimilar a few days ago, suggesting we were looking to negotiate a deal and that Henry himself is keen to make the move.

Well, a dear friend who shall be nameless travelled to Charlton from London Bridge with Katrien this afternoon.

Don't believe I am out of order to reveal something that we hoped was the case....that Guy chooses the players he wants for his squad NOT RD.

Katrien was incredibly positive about the coming season, indicated that a couple more players will be added soon and that 70 points is the target.

And, just for you, Bolderhumphreyreid, negotiations with Henry are ongoing and that it appears he does want to come to SE7.

Hope I've not upset anyone else by posting this but if Katrien is happy to talk about these issues with a fan, then she must be happy for us all to know the situation. After all, this is all positive stuff and the sort of thing we want to hear, isn't it ?

    ( Love you KM !)

Great read, Fanny, and it does seem to fit well with the activity we've seen in the last week. If two more come in, in the positions we've talked about, you've got to say they've done everything a reasonable fan could hope for.

In which case, we need to show patience in the first games, a real sod of an opening list, and with Hendo and Igor possibly missing.

  • But she is clueless fanny and out of her depth, niave to say the least and a liar, 8)

Unless you view her like you and I seem to as someone doing a great job at a difficult period in our history and deserves respect time and trust to do her job, she is everything this club needed a touch of class to pull us through and be the middle between Rd and the fans

After Sheffield utd and the way she conducted herself with some passionate fans who were respectful to her but honest, she was granted that respect by me and others whom I know to get on and do her job

So if talks are continuing with Henry, does that also mean they could possibly be continuing with Lenglet?

I'll openly admit I was giving Katrien stick as much as everyone else when things were looking bad, but I think she's made it clear she has a proper passion for the game and wants to see her succeed. Can't think of anyone better for the season ahead. Good luck to her and hopefully we can get these last few signings over the line.

Was told a week ago Henry was still top of our list, price haggle i belive but i am quite positive will be a Charlton player before window shuts, can we be that patient though considering window shuts in six or seven weeks.
