How come Scottish doesnt count yet Spanish can? (i.e. Fabregas or Cebellos)Pedro45 said:
Not Watt (Scottish does not count). Ba and Johan may or may not? Pope, Hendo, Solly, Fox, Harriot, Jackson, Cousins, Bikey, Lennon, and KAG will, as will Cebellos I think.ForeverAddickted said:
Henderson / Solly / Fox / Gudmundsson / Ba / Cousins / Watt must all be considered as part of the Homegrown rule?Ross said:Remember that we must have 9 homegrown players in the 18.
I'd have thought Johann would seeing he was in the Chelsea / Fulham Youth Academies in 2006-2007, dont think Ba does count cos he signed for Sunderland too old2 -
"A Home Grown player will be defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)."3

So Gudmundsson is ruled out as he only spent two seasons in England whilst Watt is ruled out because despite being British he was based in Scotland.SELR_addicks said:"A Home Grown player will be defined as one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)."
Crazy as Taylor Moore is English he's U18 but plays for Lens so unless he come over here before he's 21 he cant be part of the home grown quota2 -

Please can we now sign a striker Too many defender/defensive midfielders for my liking. Currently Igor isn't fully fit so leaving us with Watt (not a main striker IMO), Makienok (untried in the league) and Aherne-Grant (young & again untried )
You don't get out of the league by defending but by scoring goals - just ask B'mouth & Watford fans.9 -
I'd go with the following on Day 1 of the season:
-----------Pope
Solly----Bauer---Sarr----Fox
Johan---Ba----Cousins--Bergdich
-------Caballos (or Watt)
------------Makienok
Bench
GK - Whoever fits the homegrown rule
Diarra
Charles-Cook or Ahearne-Grant
Jackson
Kashi
Watt or Caballos
Vetokele
I actually think Watt and Caballos could play very well together (both appear to be show ponies)0 -
Perhaps why our promising international keeper has gone out for game time whilst a washed up English 'home grown' is being linked for the benchRoss said:Remember that we must have 9 homegrown players in the 18.

In football, we have to differentiate between British, and English (or Welsh). Cebellos spent three years at Spurs, so will count I think, but Ba and Johan only spent two years below 21 at English clubs. In your scenario, Taylor Moore will not qualify as homegrown currently.ForeverAddickted said:

But is he willing to sit on the bench and only play if needed due to injuries? It's a very specific type of keeper we're looking forSELR_addicks said:QPR, Bristol City and Preston among clubs chasing former West Ham keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Think he'd be a much better choice than Taylor.0 -
Surely it's what Taylor has done for pretty much his full career!Garrymanilow said:

True Clem, it was more a lame excuse to fit Sarr into SouthendClem_Snide said:
Doubt it. Kashi, Ceballos and Bergdych all signed a couple of days before friendlies and the games were deemed to have come too soon for them. Suspect we will see an XI tonight and a strong side Friday.Talal said:Good stuff, wonder if he'll be at Sarrfend

This is the rule as currently posted on the FL web site. (It may not be current but it says six?)
33.7 Home Grown Players. Each Club shall, with effect from the commencement of Season 2011/2012 be required to nominate a minimum of six Home Grown Players on their Team Sheet of Players for all League Competition Matches (including Play Off Matches).
33.8 ‘Home Grown Player’ shall mean a Player who irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with:-
33.8.1 his current Club; and/or
33.8.2 a Club and/or any other football club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales, for a period, continuous or not of three Seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21). For the purposes of this definition of Home Grown Player only, a Season will be deemed to commence on the date on which the first Transfer Window in that Season closes and expire on the date of the final League Match of the Season.
33.9 For the purposes of Regulation 33.8.2, but not otherwise, a Player who was at all times registered with a Club (or club) affiliated to the Football Association of Wales shall be treated as having been registered with a Club (or club) affiliated to The Football Association, and vice versa.1 -
Think our best team would be this:
Henderson
Solly, Bauer, Sarr, Fox/Bergdich
Kashi
Cousins, Ba
JBG
Watt, Igor
Subs:
Pope
Fox/Bergdich
Diarra
Jacko
Ceballos
Ahearne-Grant
Makienok
diamond midfield.
Happy to sign Taylor, then need another defender (preferably CB who can play RB), winger and striker.
offload Bikey and Harriott1 -
Either way the Squad definitely looks like it has more quality and depth this year2

I would like that a lot.colin1961 said:Next two Steven Kelly and James Henry possible ????
That would be a really competitive team.5 -
Feeling quite positive about things at the moment just hoping they can gel straight away with some difficult opening fixtures. When we had such big turnovers in players before under Lenny in 1986 and SCP in 2011 both of those seasons were good!1
-
Would be 2 good additions to our squad.colin1961 said:Next two Steven Kelly and James Henry possible ????
Kelly on a free to cover for solly.
Henry to give us more options on the wing.
Then we just hold our breath that Pope can emulate Henderson,
And Igor can be 100% and find his Mojo like at the beginning of last season

I know Harriott isn't exactly flavour of the month but releasing him, and then signing him just so we can release him again is out of order.cafcfan1990 said:Think our best team would be this:

Go on Roland, push the boat out one more time and get us Lenglet.1
-
None of them a patch on Daniel Seabourne.DamoNorthStand said:So our defensive options now look like:
Chris Solly (effin quality)
Patrick Bauer (50 odd appearances in the Portuguese top flight and by all accounts looks very good)
Naby Sarr (played 4 times in the Champions League last year, scoring in one game. 18 appearances in all for a very big club)
Zakarya Bergdich (plied his trade in Seria A and La Liga last year)
Alou Diarra (played in a WC final)
Andre Bikey (experienced championship centre back)
Morgan Fox (improved to the extent that Wiggins being let go isnt being seen as a disaster).
Oh for the days of Miguel Llera, Simon Francis (the charlton version), Martin Cranie et al.1 -
Your leaving out JBG?0

Here he is doing just that in the West Stand Car Park.Callumcafc said:Go on Roland, push the boat out one more time and get us Lenglet.

I would imagine we will step up efforts to sell Harriott and Bikey now.1

Sssshhhh... Roland is like that kid who when you went to play round his house would slowly get out all his toys slowly and one by one.Callumcafc said:Go on Roland, push the boat out one more time and get us Lenglet.
If you pushed him to get the best and shiniest toy out quicker he'd put them all away and would go off in a huff!!3 -
Let's just hope he proves the Sporting fans wrong, don't think I've seen one have a positive thing to see about him. But then again Leicester didn't Kermorgant and us Francis.2
-
They are a bloody champions league side! We have slightly different standards and over hype the English second flight far too much. Benfica, Porto and Chelsea are head and shoulders above even the best in our division.9
-
We are going to be a real threat from set pieces this year3
